Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (Medium Coat)

Description:

**IN FOSTER**MY ADOPTION FEE WILL BE WAIVED APRIL 21 - 27 AS PART OF THE BIG DOG ENERGY ADOPTION EVENT!Some dogs are naturally timid or shy, while others may not have learned to trust people while they were young. These dogs need to feel safe before they will interact with people; the work to build a relationship of trust could be a long and hard one but the experience can be one of the most rewarding of dog ownership. Lola is currently in foster home with staff in quieter environment where she can decompress. If you are interested in an appointment to meet Lola please let us know. OTHER PETS: Lola is interested in, and social, with other dogs, however some dogs are bit overwhelming for her. She would do best with a calmer dog who gives appropriate feedback and will help her feel safe settling into her new place. Lola is very respectful of the cats in her foster home.Case-By-Case (Must Meet First) OWNER EXPERIENCE: Someone with experience working with frightened dogs and creating happy associations to the world would be a good fit for Lola. She will need extra patience, a very slow pace, lots of positive reinforcement, and reassurance as she builds her self confidence and her trust in her owner. Some Experience KIDS: We are not sure how Lola feels about small humans but we do know that loud noises and sudden movements frighten her. Unpredictable, startling noises and motions will scare her from someone who was not intending to frighten her. Humans who can respect her desire for a calm environment and not force themselves into her space would be her best fit. Adults OnlyACTIVITY LEVEL: Lola may be a high energy dog once she is comfortable; she currently enjoys spending time outside going for walks with staff whenever possible - making walks part of her daily routine will not only help for a smooth transition but will help keep her healthy, as well as plenty of mental enrichment to be sure all her needs are met. Good Walking BuddyVETERINARY CARE: Routine GROOMING: Minimal LEVEL OF TRAINING NEEDED: Positive reinforcement training will help Lola bond with her new owner as well as help her learn important life skills. Further positive training will keep reinforcing the pet/owner bond and could give her a fun library of tricks as well as enabling her to participate in various activities. Remember that patience is a magic trick for connecting with Chicken Littles! Moderate
