Female Dog, Staffordshire Bull Terrier

Staffordshire Bull Terrier / Mixed (Medium Coat)

Description:

OTHER PETS: Copper is intense when meeting other dogs, and would likely prefer to be the only dog in the home. While she took feedback well from another dog, her intensity may not always be appreciated and could portentially result in a fight if not managed properly. Only PetOWNER EXPERIENCE: Copper is a strong dog and has the tendency to pull on leash while walking. She can be rude/pushy when greeting other dogs, and can be intense about food & bones, so she would do best with someone that has positive reinforcement experience with strong dogs and knows enough to leave her alone while she eats, and trade up (food or toys) to safely remove items of value. Some ExperienceKIDS: While Copper was tolerant with some handling, she can be intense around food and high-value treats like bones. She would do best in a home with children that are old enough to understand how to interact with her appropriately and when to leave her alone, allowing her space. 15+ (Must Meet First)ACTIVITY LEVEL: Copper may be shy here in the shelter, but she definitely has some energy in her! She loves to play and can get highly energetic when excited, but she calms quickly once play has ended. Copper would do great with access to both physical and mental enrichment, including things like puzzle toys, scent work games, or even simply scattering kibble around the yard. Good Walking BuddyVETERINARY CARE: RoutineLEVEL OF TRAINING NEEDED: Copper is still at the beginning of her positive reinforcement training journey, and will do best learning with someone who can offer patience and time while she adjusts. Positive reinforcement training will help Copper to not only learn her basic cues, but also help her feel more comfortable and confident in herself! It will also provide a good opportunity for her to bond with her new owner. ModerateGROOMING: Routine brushing will help to minimize shedding in the home. Minimal
