Male Dog, Pug

Pug (Medium Coat)

Description:

Pug Rescue of New England (PRoNE) is a non-profit 501(c)(3), all volunteer foster home based rescue organization. MEET PANTHER! Open to Applications Pending Neuter Panther is estimated to be 5 year old. He is a sweetheart of a boy. He came to PRoNE from California after he was taken into Pug Rescue of LA from the local shelter where he landed as a stray. He assimilated immediately as a family dog, leaving his foster family to wonder about his true past. He was an absolute charmer on his trip across the country. Every person involved in his journey expressed love and interest in him after spending even a little time with him. He's a thin little guy and his foster family is working on filling him out just a little more. He eats really fast so a slow feed bowl may be in his future. He may be making up for lost meals. Panther is really relaxed in the car and a champion cuddler, eager to give his kisses out. He is such a gentle boy. He also sleeps like a rock and has been sleeping in his crate next to his human's bed without any hesitancy and doesn't make a peep all night long. He also sleeps peacefully in his crate for safety when his humans leave the house. Panther has been friendly and curious about all new friends. He is a very calm boy in that regard, even with his toddler friends. Great on a leash he loves all the smells on his walks. Curious in a tentative way with other dogs on his walks. There's no reason to think Panther wouldn't make fast friends. He is the only pet in his foster home, but he had no issues with other dogs when staying at the Pubble at Pug Nation. Panther really loves playing with his toys and loves his treats. As docile as he is, he engages with playtime eagerly and straight away. He learned how to sit quickly with the aid of treats. He may need to learn other commands but is very cooperative and you'd never know what he doesn't know. He is just such a sweet, calm and loving dog, we can envision him doing whatever makes his human happy. Treats and love will be the way to this boy's training successes. As far as potty training, Panther hasn't been neutered yet and has attempted marking a couple times. That may subside some after the procedure. Being so food motivated we think he will get there eventually. He's very close. He has been wearing a belly band when up and about. That said, he hasn't even pooped on the floor yet. His humans keep an eye on him just in case. He goes on multiple walks to do his business. After breakfast, at lunch, after dinner, before bed. He has no problem holding it and simply sleeps while his humans work. He doesn't have a problem getting down to business either, he's not picky on his walks. When Panther was found he was in very grave condition. He was severely dehydrated and in acute kidney failure. The shelter treated him with IV's and antibiotics, and he bounced back fairly quickly. We are following up to ensure his kidneys are stable and he needs to be neutered prior to being adopted. He is microchipped through 24Petwatch where his adopter can register him. He is the softest, sweetest boy you could possibly hope for. He is an absolute love through and through. We can't emphasize that enough. Just a love sponge who returns the love tenfold! p.s. we have only heard him let out one bark in these first few weeks. He's so quiet.
