Male Dog, Pug

Pug / French Bulldog / Mixed (Medium Coat)

Description:

Pug Rescue of New England (PRoNE) is a non-profit 501(c)(3), all volunteer foster home based rescue organization. MEET OLLIE! Make way, because resident PRoNE wigglebutt, Oliver, is coming through! Ollie is a 26-lb stunner (a Frenchie/Pug mix, affectionately known as a “Frug”) who was surrendered to PRoNE as one of a pair who came in unspayed and unaltered. For obvious reasons, they needed to be separated and have done well living apart. Ollie is a happy and active 5 year old. He loves people, food, and exploring (in that order). While Ollie loves to go on walk, he does need some leash walking training/reinforcement. He pulls while on the leash, is easily distracted, and doesn’t always know to stay on the sidewalk. While Ollie has no problem going to the bathroom outside, he will also go while he is inside. Like a typical boy, he likes to mark. He will wear a belly band if needed, but his new family should expect to continue working on his housebreaking. He is worth it, we promise! He has been recently neutered, so we are hopeful the marking should improve, but it’s never a guarantee. Ollie has previously lived with a dog and in his current Foster Home he has two doggie sisters and he is doing well with them. He is curious but not bothersome. He will sometimes get a little too friendly with his Pug foster sister, but that is a behavior that will hopefully lessen or stop post-neuter. He is not wholly dependent on other dogs and much prefers to snuggle with a human lap, so he can be an only dog, or be introduced into a home with other dogs. He does better with calm, submissive dogs. He lives with two older children (10 and 13) in his foster home, but his previous foster home had younger kids, so he has been exposed to young kids his whole life. He is polite and appropriate around them, but when he is excited and gets a case of the wiggles, he may accidentally knock over a small child. If you don’t love being lulled to sleep by the gentle sounds of Frug snoring, then Ollie may not be right for you. While he doesn’t have any trouble breathing or regulating his temperature, he can be quite a loud snorer, both when he is awake and when he is napping. In his Foster Home, he gets to sleep with his human foster sister every night, and he thoroughly enjoys this! He is also crate trained and will sometimes go in a crate to rest and have some alone time. He can be safely left alone for about 4-6 hours if needed. If you are looking for a sugar and spice sweet boy to add to your family, please consider Ollie! Adoption Requirements for MAX- Fenced in yard is desirable or a secured plan. Owner should be ready for puppy-like energy! Dog savvy and respectful children are welcome. Daily walks (on leash) will keep him exercised as part of his weight management regime. Enjoys secured in the car rides but takes time to settle. Ollie's ideal forever home would be where family members are frequently home/in and out or remote workers, keeping to a 4-6 hour alone time. Companion animal is welcome or he can be an only. We have no cat experience with him. Be committed and financially able to provide well visits , Heartworm and Flea & Tick preventative and feeding a quality diet. If you believe you would be an AMAZING family for OLLIE, please submit an Adoption Application for him! OLLIE'S Adoption Fee = $750.00 $600.00 Fee based on age $150.00 Neuter Fee If you are interested in adopting, your home situation MUST meet this criteria: A vet reference check, dog walker check (if applicable), landlord check (if applicable), a phone interview and home visit will be conducted prior to approval. If you think a pug is right for your family and you meet the criteria, please apply to adopt on our website at www.pugrescueofnewengland.org. BE SURE TO REFERENCE THE SPECIFIC PUG! Our mission is simple: we find homes for abandoned and surrendered pugs in New England. Our pugs will be UTD on shots and spayed or neutered prior to adoption. You must be a resident of the New England states. Due to a change in state regulations, we are no longer adopting outside of New England. PRoNE is supported by adoption fees, donations and funds raised through auctions and events. Adoption fees range from $200-$1,000 which is based on age of the dog. Effective in January 2023, we have imposed a $150 Spay/Neuter Fee (if required) and a $500 Transportation Fee (For dogs requiring air/cargo travel). Pug Mixes will be discounted by $100 off the fee for their age range. Pairs and Triples will be discounted by $50 per dog. < 1 year old = $1000 1-2 years old= $750 3-5 years old= $600 6-7 years old= $500 8-10 years old= $400 11-12 years old= $300 Over 12 = $200 $150.00 Spay/Neuter Fee (if the dog requires it) $500.00 Transportation Fee (for dogs requiring air/cargo travel) Adoption FAQs: pugrescueofnewengland.org/adopt/adoption-faqs Adoption App: pugrescueofnewengland.org/adopt/adoption-application Follow us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/PugRescueofNewEngland/
