Female Dog, Pug

Pug (Short Coat)

Description:

Pug Rescue of New England (PRoNE) is a non-profit 501(c)(3), all volunteer foster home based rescue organization. Meet Nadine! This 1-year-old teeny girl traversed the US from the Pubble at Pug Nation to find her forever home. At just 10 lbs. Nadine is tiny but mighty. Good things come in small packages as they say, and Nadine is no exception. If you are ready for all the energy that comes with a young dog and are willing to take her the rest of the way to being a great and loyal companion, go ahead and throw your hat in the ring. Having picked up the nickname Hey Hey, Nadine is doing very well with house training. She quickly learned that going out for business garnered a treat upon returning inside. She has now begun abusing this system! Due to her small size and being a California girl, Nadine needs a jacket or sweater for her trips outdoors in the colder weather. She knows the sit command and mostly comes when she is called. She likes to try and eat mulch and rocks when she is outdoors, so keeping a close eye on her during outdoor time is critical. She is learning the drop it command, but as anyone who has had a young pug will attest, pugs are mischievous creatures. If they know they can't have it, they know trying to get a forbidden treasure will garner attention. Nadine is both treat and praise motivated and will continue to learn with consistency and dedication. She is crate trained which will help with safety when she doesn't have direct supervision or with absences from the home as she acclimates. She loves to travel and will accompany you in the car with no hesitation. Just be sure she's safely secured; she wants to be in the driver's seat! Nadine is the happiest girl; springing out of bed in the morning filled with joy and ready for breakfast and playtime. She loves her toys, chew toys and pull toys especially. One of her most endearing qualities is her satellite ear! She likes to rotate it around to be sure no cheese drawer is opened without her knowledge. She has gotten along very well with the puggles in her foster home. We think she has a fantasy of being a WWE star. She likes to jump onto them from the couch and clothesline them like she's jumping off the top rope! "Hey Hey Hurricane Nadine" has a nice ring to it. She does take correction and redirection from the alpha female and more chill male dog so she'd likely do well in a home with other dogs who could continue to mentor her. Nadine spent time with some young children over the holiday and was very gentle with them. Nadine is a small pug and her current weight is a healthy one. She has luxating patella but the vet does not believe surgical intervention is necessary. It will be important to keep her trim and give her a quality joint supplement. She needs rest periods as well, which if you're on the couch your lap will become an instant pug warmer. She came into rescue with some skin issues. Cytology showed yeast and bacteria. Medicated baths helped and a spot on her leg is more of a chronic anomaly. Nadine is ready to enter her New England era, are you ready to take her over the finish line and give her her best life? Please complete an application if you meet the following criteria: REQUIREMENTS TO ADOPT NADINE: Nadine could be an only dog in an active household with people around to meet her needs as she continues to develop.
