Pug (Medium Coat)
Description:
Pug Rescue of New England (PRoNE) is a non-profit 501(c)(3), all volunteer foster home based rescue organization. INTRODUCING ALFRED & BRYNNA! BONDED PAIR It has been a while since we have had a pair of pugs in the rescue and Alfred 8-year-old black male and Brynna 7-year-old fawn female are certainly putting the bonded in bonded pair! They are so close, tending to one another, sleeping together, looking for each other. They truly have the most beautiful relationship. Alfred and Brynna were surrendered when their owner's life circumstances left her making the difficult decision to let them go so that they could get all the love and attention that they deserve. They were very loved. Both Alfred and Brynna are playful and energetic. They could play for hours together. Alfred needs to take breaks, but he is always ready for the next big adventure. They are smart and know basic commands of sit, stay and down. As far as re-call, Alfred and Brynna are pugs. They possess the selective hearing gene so it depends on the day if they will come when called. They have integrated perfectly into their foster home, hanging out with a pack of 8 dogs from 5 - 60 lbs.! They came into rescue with crates, but there hasn't been a need to use them thus far. They much prefer chairs, couches, beds and laps! Alfred and Brynna have been very friendly with children who walk by the yard and say hi and they have also enjoyed interacting with adult visitors to the home. They are just super chill and happy and love the idea of making new friends. These two inseparable friends are potty trained and do their business outside. They do find it rather convenient that some of the rest of the pack have pee pads and they have chosen to use those on occasion as well. Always a bonus for those rainy days when all pugs seem to pump the brakes at the slightest glimpse of wet ground. When outdoors Alfred follows Brynna everywhere. After dinner wrestling matches might have you thinking Brynna is beating up Alfred until you realize they are playing. Guess who's HBIC?! They are good on the leash and have shown no leash reactivity when passing other dogs. They are both also happy to hop in the car and go on an excursion. While they do play with toys, Brynna more than Alfred, the longer they are together with their foster siblings the less interested they are in toys and prefer playing together with the pack. We are told there was a cat in their former home and while there were not any issues between the animals, someone (name starts with B) got a little miffed and decided to pee on their mom's bed after the cat joined the family. Don't test a diva. With Alfred and Brynna coming in as the new guys, we think a resident cat would be ok as long as the cat has a place to lay low if they do not want to be disturbed. Both Brynna and Alfred are in good health overall. Brynna has no health concerns, though she will likely need a dental down the line. Alfred had a palate resection and nare widening surgery at the age of about 2. He likes to lick, but it is believed to be behavioral. He also has bilateral medial luxating patella noted in his medical history. He shows no lameness so this is something that can be monitored. We are working on trimming him down just a tad to keep him in tip top condition. He too will benefit from a dental cleaning in his future. Alfred's records show his age as having just turned 7. His original owner and their vet believed him to be a little older. On surrender he was listed at 8 so we have based his adoption fee on that. In rescue precise age can sometimes be difficult to confirm especial when the dog has not been with the surrendering owner since puppyhood as is the case with Alfred. They checked out great with our vet and are ready to go to their forever home! So, who's ready to up their pug game?
