Male Dog, Terrier

Terrier / Dachshund / Mixed

Description:

Sparky is the happiest little dog! Although on paper he is almost two years old, he is a puppy in his heart. He is very curious, and meets every experience with excitement, joy, and the swishing of his fancy tail. His tousled, wavy coat is soft hair, so he does not shed, but will need the occasional haircut. He loves zooming around the backyard, and is surprisingly athletic for a low-rider with tiny short legs (when standing still, his front paws turn out like a ballet dancer - so cute). He likes to keep busy playing with puzzle toys and Kongs, and he loves attention from his humans. He is house and crate trained, and in his foster home he is working on walking politely on a leash, and learning manners and boundaries. He is VERY food motivated and smart. His perfect forever family will be commited to continuing with training and setting limits, rather than giving in to his many charms. His exuberance and mouthy puppiness are likely too much for small children.Sparky's is very playful with other dogs, and likes to wrestle — especially with dogs that can match his energy. He is so excited to meet every dog he sees, that he tends to bark if it isn't convenient for him to go meet them and play right now. We think he would do well with a canine sibling to play with, and perhaps give him an example of polite behavior to follow. He hasn't met any cats. This dog is up to date on vaccinations and is neutered. To adopt or learn more about this dog, you must complete an adoption application, which can be found on our website: www.sandypawsrescue.com. PLEASE READ: • If a dog or puppy is listed, they are currently available for adoption. However, they may already be pending an adoption, and their profile may not yet reflect this. • All information is accurate to the best of our knowledge as of the posting date. • Unless explicitly stated, Sandy Paws Rescue does not guarantee the breed of any dog. Breeds listed are educated guesses made by shelter staff, volunteers, or veterinarians. Many of our dogs are mixed breeds, often with pit bull-type genetics, resulting in a wide variety of physical traits and temperaments. Our dogs come from various situations, such as kill shelters, owner surrenders, or as strays. It is likely both parents were mixed breeds as well. Sandy Paws Rescue does not have a public shelter in Massachusetts. Our dogs reside in private foster homes or boarding kennels in the South until adopted. Many dogs are spoken for prior to transport or release from state-mandated isolation. For information on adoption fees, procedures, or FAQs, visit our website: www.sandypawsrescue.com. The FIRST step in adopting from Sandy Paws Rescue is to submit a completed adoption application.
