Description:

www.huskyrescueteam.org If you have additional questions please email [email protected] is a bit of a long sad one, sorry in advance. This sweet, old, tripod lady is Aleu. She's 11 years old. With the help of our Vet in Georgia we've been able to piece some of her story together. When Aleu was 3 she escaped from her family and was stuck by a train! Can you imagine?! Somehow she survived. But, Aleu lost her hind right leg and the left suffered a torn cranial cruciate ligament. Having rehabilitated several dogs with ligament tears, it's hard to imagine how difficult the rehabilitation is when you have no good leg! A true miracle she is! Then sadly her pawrents divorced several years later. Aleu lived with her Dad until he passed away earlier this year. His ex-wife was contacted about caring for Aleu but wouldn't/couldn't. Can you imagine at the ripe old age of 80 human years being surrendered to a kill shelter after having survived being struck by a train? Well that's exactly what happened to her. And not just any shelter, but a rescue only shelter. The dogs in the shelter are not marked as rescue only because of behavioral or medical needs. The entire shelter has this designation. That means animals can only leave with an approved Georgia Department of Agriculture licensed rescue. The public is not able to adopt dogs here. That definitely cuts the dogs chances significantly. Well, how could we turn a blinds eye knowing she needed our help. Are we crazy to think there are some folks out there who love seniors?? Maybe someone with a big H-E-A-R-T, like ours will see this post and want to let Aleu live out her remaining days with them, pampering her and cherishing her? She is dog and cat friendly after all. (we were able to dig up an old picture of her with a cat.) Although Aleu would prefer companion animal friends and not those overly rambunctious. She would also be fine as an only dog. Despite her age, Aleu loves her daily walks. She gets around very well and can even do a few stairs here and there. She would prefer to walk on carpeted surfaces or throw rugs/runners. She'd like a home where she can just be your best pal. One where she'll get lots of love and attention, daily short walks, and have a dog bed nearby you to sleep in. She also has a beautiful little voice and can be opinionated. See video https://youtube.com/shorts/MeMDORJD1vM?si=rqaKGRZur3UlINHt Aleu is now located in MD. We can transport her for the right home. She's current on her vaccines, heartworm negative, spayed and we've had her teeth cared for as she had several bad ones. But just look at that smile. You cannot resist that grateful smile. If you have a love for the seniors, like we do, apply at www.huskyrescueteam.org~~Husky Education And Rescue Team is a foster based rescue. Our dogs are in our foster homes all up and down the east coast. We do not have a facility in which you can visit. We find this a huge benefit because we learn our dogs and are able to educate our adopters on what it’s like to have them live in your home. Part of our process, once pre-approved, is to speak with the foster for the dog you’re interested in. If you’re still interested in adopting from our rescue the first step is to complete our adoption application online at www.huskyrescueteam.org/apply If you have additional questions please email [email protected]
