Description:
Bertha’s Story Meet Bertha, a 3-year-old Mastiff mix with a heart as big as her paws. Bertha’s journey hasn’t been the easiest — she was found abandoned in an apartment after her owners moved out and left her behind. Thankfully, caring neighbors stepped in and did what they could for her before bringing her to a shelter so she could have a real chance at a better life. From there, Bertha went into a temporary foster home while waiting for a full-time foster, and that’s where her true personality began to shine. At first, Bertha was very shy and unsure, but it didn’t take long to see just how much love she had to give. With patience and kindness, she blossomed into the goofy, affectionate girl she truly is. Bertha absolutely loves to play and will never turn down a cozy lap to lay her big head on. While she has lived with other dogs and has done well with them, we have learned that she would do best in a home as either the only dog or submissive dog. If you have a dog that doesn’t care to play and ok with sharing space with another dog, then Bertha may just be a good fit. She prefers a home without cats. Bertha already knows so many tricks such as paw, down, sit, and stay. Bertha is not food motivated but loves her toys. Bertha is crate trained and potty trained. When Bertha was rescued, she was very malnourished, so we are still working on helping her gain healthy weight. Her future family should expect her to be a big girl, likely around 110 lbs once she’s fully filled out — which just means 110 pounds of love. Bertha is a strong girl so we highly recommend a family who has experience with large dogs. Bertha is looking for a family that will never leave her behind again — one that will give her the security, love, and couch space she deserves. In return, she’ll give you endless loyalty, laughs, and the sweetest snuggles. Could Bertha be the missing piece of your family?
