Female Dog, Labrador Retriever
Labrador Retriever / Mixed (Medium Coat)
Description:
Our sweet girl Zoey came to Safe Haven on a transport from an over-crowded shelter in Texas. Zoey was one of 10 puppies that were found in a dumpster in near Amarillo, Texas at the end of January. Two of the puppies found homes in the shelter, but the others were at risk of euthanasia. Several shelters in Iowa agreed to take on the remaining puppies, and Safe Haven took in four that are now looking for theirever homes! Zoey is guessed to be a 3 to 4 month old Lab mix, and will likely mature into nice medium to large sized dogs. A volunteer did syubmit a DNA test on one of Zoey's littermates - and the results should be back by the end of the month and will be shared with everyone on social media! She was spayed on Wednesday, April 9th and should be ready to head to her forever homes on Friday, April 11th. The ideal adoptive family will be committed to taking a puppy obedience class right away to get started on the right foot - they will need a family that can commit to continue proper socialization and also all the work that goes into house-training a puppy, which requires a lot of patience and persistence with working on a schedule. Puppies need to be taken outside frequently - as often as every 4 hours in the beginning. So an ideal home for these puppies will be one where they won't have long periods of time during the day spent alone during the first few months, so they can have the best chance of successful housetraining and have years of wonderful love and devotion to focus on!
