My name is Heidi and I am a yellow labrador retriever/mix. I am a spayed female and I am 5 years old. I am here because I was given up by my owner on 05/06/2025 due to the fact my owners are elderly could not physically take care of me anymore. They were my family for 3 years. I am used to staying both inside and outside during the day and inside during the night. I am potty trained. I am a high energy dog and I can live with an owner with no prior pet owning experience. I am used to staying in crates when I am alone or need to be safely contained, and I am still learning to walk nicely on a leash. There are lots of things you can do to get me to walk comfortably and safely on a leash. The staff can tell you all about it! I would do well with simple obedience training to help us bond and for us to learn how to communicate with each other. I dash out open doors or windows if given the opportunity. I would do best in a setting with two doors between exterior doors, such as a screened in porch or hallway, or to be shut in another room or in a kennel before any doors or windows are opened. I am used to having a fenced in yard to run in, and I would like a fenced in yard again in my next home. I can be good with men, women, and children. I can be good with cats, but I have not lived with dogs before. My owner said: `She is a very happy, upbeat, and friendly girl who loves to play fetch.`All dogs are tested for heartworms and given flea preventatives. They are also tested for intestinal parasites and receive routine dewormings. Dogs are vaccinated against distemper, rabies, and bordetella, spayed/neutered before adoption, and have a microchip. Adoption fees include the initial automated registration of the microchip at the time of adoption.
