Female Dog,

Unknown Breed

Description:

Minnie May is a female, 2 year old (vet guess) lab/pit mix that I recently rescued off the road. She is the gentlest love bug I have ever met. She is crate and leash trained, non-reactive to passing animals on walks, knows sit, doesn’t bark at all, and stays perfectly still and patient in the bath and at the vet. She just wants to be near you and chill. If you let her lean against your leg and give her a patpatpat, she is the happiest creature in the world. She is pest and disease free, up to date on vaccines, and has a pre-paid spay scheduled with Jazzy Paw next week thanks to Henry County Humane Society ________________________ BACKSTORY : I pulled this sweet lab/pit mix out of traffic on Jonesboro Road in McDonough, Georgia just under 2 weeks ago. She had a red collar but no tag, was extremely malnourished with every vertebrae in her spine visible, dirty, stinky, and scared. I got her home, gave her a bath, and got her food and shelter inside with us. I took her to the vet the next day for a checkup: sadly no chip. She was flea, worm, parasite, and disease free but did have a bad tick infestation. The vet gave her a rabies shot and put her on preventatives for all pests. The ticks all died and were meticulously removed. She is clean as a whistle now and has a pre-paid spay scheduled with Jazzy Paws next week. We have had 0 claims on any of our found dog posts. I have called every no-kill shelter and nonprofit in the area but nobody has room with all the Covid and pre-recession surrenders. We have a dog that can’t coexist with another dog and a cat with anxiety, so we can’t adopt her and have to keep her completely separate from our pets. We will keep fostering in isolation until I can be sure she finds a no-kill, safe shelter or home. We’re keeping her inside but she isn’t getting near enough time and space to roam with the heat and now rain. __________________________ If you have any concrete leads on a shelter with open capacity right now, that will be wonderful! However, Minnie May really just needs a home or a foster that is able to keep her without such strict isolation.
