Please no phone calls.*** Rusty had been a stray that decided to take up residence at a rental home that also had a few other dogs. The renters decided to let Rusty stay, providing him with food, water and shelter. Life was looking pretty OK for Rusty...until the "papers" came. The couple was being evicted and only given a couple off days to be off the property. They took their personal dogs but, once again, Rusty found himself homeless. This same couple had contacted SoCo Rescue and received our help in the past, so they were very familiar with us and knew that we would find a way to help this fellow. And we did just that with the aid of one of our wonderful fosters, who agreed to let Rusty hang out at her house while we readied him for adoption. Rusty immediately began showing us just how friendly and affectionate he was, both to people and other dogs alike. We're not positive how he.'' be around cats, but he did not seem overly interested in the cats at the foster's home. Rusty is very playful but not too hyper and he does also enjoy going on car rides, snuggling up to whoever he finds close by and even enjoys spending a lot of time outdoors. Rusty will definitely make a great choice for anyone looking for a sweet, medium-sized dog who has a very personable manner about him. Rusty did receive an update on his annual vaccinations (DHLPP L4, Bordetela,.) scheduled de-wormings and medications to make sure that he stays healthy and happy dog. Unfortunately, in November he tested positive for Heartworms and will now need to be treated. He may need additional house and leash training.
