Female Dog, Hound
Hound (Short Coat)
Description:
Sadie is a beautiful mature hound mix longing for her own family! She thrives on human attention as well as the companionship of other dogs. She loves exploring outside. She is wonderful with other dogs, and often helps test dog reactivity due to her gentle nature. She's a natural with puppies, acting as a caring guardian and educator for them. She has a heartwarming way of connecting with both dogs and volunteers at the rescue and all adore her. Despite some arthritis in her right front leg, she remains a playful spirit, enjoying both human and canine companionship. We are currently looking for a local foster to work with our trainers in order to help Sadie with some "in home" training to change some of her behaviors. Sadie was adopted recently but she was returned for being a bit "food obsessed" Once, in a home environment, this became very clear, as she tried to get to food in any way possible. She also was chasing the cats, not to hurt them, just to chase them. It is sad that she failed in her new home, but this experience has given us good information about Sadie that we didn't really have. She will require additional training in her next home and WAG will have our dog trainers assist with Sadie in any home training. These are things we cannot easily address in the rescue. Sadie is estimated to be around three or four years old, has been fully vetted and receives daily anti-inflammatory medication for her arthritis. She likes being active and making her rounds to visit all her friends at the kennel, but her days of hard running have passed. Please call 352-528-9888 to set up an appointment to meet her.
