Female Dog, German Shepherd Dog

German Shepherd Dog (Medium Coat)

Description:

Apply to Adopt Me! Who couldn’t use a little more sunshine and happiness in their life? Gouda is an approx.10yo German Shepherd Dog ready for her retirement home. This sweet lady smiles with her eyes. Not only is she gorgeous, but our girl is a total sweetheart - we’ve never even heard her bark. Lil Rascals pulled her from the shelter as an owner surrender right before her euthanasia date. Those years of neglect are behind her and now she’s so ready for you to provide the love. She is so tail-waggy. Calm, quiet, housebroken, and easy to take care of. She could stand to gain a little weight, and is currently around 56 pounds. She eats really well, but needs soft food (she’s been on a combo of soaked senior kibble and canned food, plus soft treats) because of her teeth. She’ll have a dental before she goes to her forever home. We expect she will only have a few teeth left so soft food will continue. She is perfectly crate trained and sleeps quietly through the night (and lots of naps during the day too). She will be happy to lay near you for Netflix and chill time. She seems dog friendly with slow introductions. She hasn’t been around small children but would probably be fine with respectful ones. She’s great with the teenager in her foster home. She moves a little slow, her back legs are weak, maybe arthritis, which she takes inexpensive daily supplements for. Single story living is necessary as stairs are difficult for her to maneuver. She does not need a fenced yard, but does like to sniff outside and come in pretty quickly, so a yard is required. Leash walks need to be slow and short because of her hind legs. We really can’t overstate how easy she is to take care of. Her foster mom gave her a bath with the water hose on a warm day and she loved it. She loved the water and being scrubbed. She’s super soft but definitely sheds and should be brushed regularly. She also might enjoy a swimming pool. She put her front paws on the top step before her foster intervened as it was much too cold, an she may need help getting out! If you live in the Central Florida/Orlando area and think you may be a match for this special senior, please complete an application and tell us more about your family.
