Female Dog, American Staffordshire Terrier

American Staffordshire Terrier (Medium Coat)

Description:

Paprika is a young adult mixed breed who was brought to the shelter as a stray on 08/08/2024. She is heartworm negative, potty trained, and crate trained, and is ready for her new home. Paprika has a playful, puppy-like energy that makes her a joy to be around. She loves to run around in the yard, play fetch, and especially enjoys squeaky toys. While she can be a bit rough and rowdy during play, she is very social and enjoys interacting with other dogs. However, she can sometimes over-correct other dogs in play and may need some additional guidance when it comes to her interactions. With patience and proper training, Paprika could improve in this area and become a well-rounded companion.Unfortunately, the shelter environment is causing Paprika stress and frustration. Initially, she would shy away from people at the kennel door, but more recently, she has been jumping at the door, becoming reactive, and attempting to bite fingers. This behavior is a clear sign that her stress levels are growing, and she needs to be in a calmer, more comfortable space where she can thrive. Outside of the shelter, Paprika’s true potential shines. She’s a sweet and loving girl who enjoys relaxation time, especially joining her humans on the bed to rest. She’s very easygoing with care routines, allowing her teeth to be brushed, wearing clothes, and being wiped down without any issues. Paprika is also food-motivated and loves treats like pupperoni, peanut butter, and dog biscuits. She’s car-friendly and has mellow energy during car rides, with a slight pull from time to time. She does well with other dogs and is easy to work with in different environments.Paprika would do best in a home where she can receive the structure, attention, and training she needs to succeed. She is a little apprehensive of new people but warms up with time, showing her true sweet and loving nature. She would be an amazing companion for someone who is patient, kind, and ready to offer her the guidance she needs. Paprika deserves a home where she can feel safe and loved, and where she can continue to grow into the amazing dog she is. She is currently in foster care, but she’s still looking for her forever home.If you think Paprika might be the perfect fit for your family, come meet her today! She’s ready to leave the shelter behind and step into a new life full of love, playtime, and relaxation.
