Female Dog, Chihuahua

Chihuahua / Mixed

Description:

Meet Shelly, a sweet and mellow Chihuahua mix whose favorite thing in the world is snuggling with her people. She’s very much a lap dog and happiest curled up next to you, following you around the house, or waiting patiently for her next cuddle session.Shelly isn’t big on toys or playtime—she prefers a calm home where she can relax and soak up affection. She sleeps in bed and bonds closely with her humans, greeting them with lots of enthusiasm even after short trips away.Shelly forms strong attachments and can be cautious with new people at first, especially in the home or in public. She does best with slow, respectful introductions and settles in nicely once she feels safe and secure. She would likely do well with kids who understand how to be gentle and respectful of a small dog’s boundaries.Shelly is making great progress with potty training and will continue to do so with patience and understanding. Shelly would thrive in a loving home that enjoys a loyal little shadow and lots of snuggles.Shelly was rescued from a shelter in New Mexico.Meet and greets are by appointment only. An approved application is required to schedule a meeting. Check out our events page for upcoming open adoption events! We have no additional back story or update for this dog at this time. When we do, it will be updated here. This is all the information we have currently. Approved Applicants may make the adoption fee payment by clicking donate above. Partial adoption fees will not hold a dog. If upon meeting the dog of your choosing at your scheduled pickup time you find that you aren't a good match, your deposit will be fully refunded. Adoption fees include vaccines up until time of adoption, microchip, spay/neuter and 1st 30 days of free pet insurance. We are not affiliated with MetLife pet insurance. (you have to sign up for the insurance or it will not go into effect). Adoption fees help cover the medical care of the animals while he or she waits for a new home, as well as food and transportation costs. These fees help to provide care for the other animals in the shelter or rescue group who may have medical bills that are much higher than any possible adoption fee. The money also acts as a donation to help support the organization as a whole, allowing the group to continue its efforts to rescue and rehome pets. The dogs in our care are fostered in Colorado, Texas, and New Mexico. While all dogs are picked up during our scheduled times, sometimes transport dates change due to unforeseen circumstances.
