please read description thoroughly Meet Smoochi – A Sweet, Shy Soul Looking for Her Forever Home Smoochi is a 6-year-old miniature Poodle mix with a unique look — her long body and short legs suggest she may have a bit of Dachshund in her family tree. Weighing in at just 8 pounds, she’s the perfect size for a lap dog. Sadly, Smoochi was surrendered to a high-intake shelter by her lifelong owner due to vague “changes in family situation.” After spending her whole life in one home, the shelter environment was overwhelming for her. Described as “afraid of her own shadow,” she was too frightened to be put up for general adoption. That’s when we stepped in. Since coming into foster care, Smoochi has started to blossom. She’s still a bit shy and startles easily, but she’s made great progress and enjoys the calm, safety, and love of her foster home. She gets along well with other dogs, though she can be a little possessive of her chew sticks — who could blame her? She’d likely do best as an only dog or with just one calm companion. Her previous owners mentioned she would sometimes urinate from excitement when they came home — but she had also been left alone for over 8 hours a day. Eight hours is far too long for any small dog to go without a potty break, and we believe with more frequent companionship and care, this behavior can easily improve. Smoochi is gentle, affectionate, and incredibly loyal. She would love nothing more than a quiet home with a kind-hearted person who can help her continue to come out of her shell. She truly just wants to be close to someone she can trust. Her adoption fee is $325 — a great value considering we recently spent double that on her dental cleaning!
