Description:

Please go to our website at www.milehighlabmission.com to find out more about this pet and to submit an adoption application. Please DO NOT call or email us; all information about current dogs available, adoption donations, vetting, and this specific dog are on our website. We are a non-profit organization and we are completely 100% volunteer run. We DO NOT have a shelter and only approved applicants can make appointments with our foster homes to meet the dogs we have. Our volunteers will not discuss dogs we have available for adoption UNTIL you have an application on file and are approved to adopt.General Notes | Rufus, a handsome five-year-old Labradoodle, is a classic gentleman with a heart full of warmth. Much like his name, this devoted boy has a rich, comforting spirit and a charming, shaggy look. He’s a stable and loving companion, ready to bring his distinguished personality and a lifetime of unwavering loyalty to your family. Want to adopt this dog? Please do not email us. Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP. Personality | Story | Rufus came into foster care about two weeks ago and has transitioned well to a family dog and learning to be a dog! He loves his people almost to a fault. Velcro dog defined. He’s learning to get love and attention on everyone’s terms, not just his. He’s been good with kids of all ages, will need to continue to learn to stay on all fours but he’s coming along.Other Dogs | Rufus adores other dogs. Started a little timid and unsure but with his foster siblining dogs showing Rufus what to do, he loves to play. Give him a stuffy and he’s up for a game of chase or tug any time of day. He afraid of balls…still working to see if he will give fetch a shot. Rufus still startles and is unsure of some things but his confidence has increased tremendously! We’ve had zero thoughts of any kind of escape from the 6 foot fence even with dogs on the other side, zero issues with feeding all dogs together, learning to load in the car on his own, gaining confidence on the leash. He loves his kennel and is always very excited for the treat he gets for going in, he will also nap with the door open on his own.Cats | UnknownChildren | Good with respectul childrenTraining | Work in progressLeash | Work in progress, gaining confidenceActivity Level | Medium, he likes to run and play with his foster sibliing dogs in their back yardHealth Notes | Rufus is heartworm positive, but treatment is very successful and completely manageable with all the proper education. MHLRM will cover the expense of treatment at one of our approved veterinarians. Heartworm positive dogs go on to live happy, normal lives after treatment and rarely experience long-term side effects. Don't let this stop you from adopting Rufus!Thank you! | Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $475 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $425 for 1-6 years, $375 for dogs 7-10 years, and $250 for 11+ years of age. Purebred dogs regardless of age are $525. These minimum donations help to defer the costs of initial vet care, food, and supplies while in foster care that currently average over $700 per dog).Meeting Dogs | Foster dogs may have meet & greets by appointment to approved applicants only. To become an approved applicant - please complete the application process. Please know | Available dogs are updated as soon as possible and we do our best to keep it up-to-date, but occasionally dogs shown may become unavailable without notice due to a pending adoption. We encourage you to put in an application even if you don't see your new family member currently, as once you are approved, we can place you on the waiting list for first priority on the selection of the dogs we do bring in. That means you can often meet a dog upon transport arrival and adopt before they even make it to this page!We can not guarantee that a dog you wish to adopt is available by the time your adoption application is submitted, processed, and approved. Your application is good for one year from the date of applying for any dog as long as it is a good fit for your family and your lifestyle.
