Description:
Please go to our website at www.milehighlabmission.com to find out more about this pet and to submit an adoption application. Please DO NOT call or email us; all information about current dogs available, adoption donations, vetting, and this specific dog are on our website. We are a non-profit organization and we are completely 100% volunteer run. We DO NOT have a shelter and only approved applicants can make appointments with our foster homes to meet the dogs we have. Our volunteers will not discuss dogs we have available for adoption UNTIL you have an application on file and are approved to adopt.General Notes | Looking for an intelligent, loyal companion who loves people, plays well with other dogs and learns quickly? Schatzi, a handsome 1.5 year-old Lab/Pyr mix, is an adventurous boy with a heart as vast as a mountain range. A true outdoor enthusiast, this boy is ready to conquer every trail and cuddle session, bringing unwavering devotion to his forever Colorado home. Want to adopt this dog? Please do not email us. Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP. Personality | Schatzi is such a sweet boy. He loves pets and cuddles and has a very mild temperment around the house. He really enjoys going for walks and is so great on a leash. Schatzi enjoys meeting people and dogs. Schatzi needs an adopter who will not leave him home alone long hours (would love to have a person who works from home!), he would prefer to have a doggie sibling, and he needs an adopter who is willing to help him manage his separation anxiety.Story | Schatzi was pulled from a high-kill shelter in Houston. Schatzi made his way to Colorado is a happy Colorado doggie!Other Dogs | Schatzi is good with dogs! This social boy enjoys doggie day care and has many play pals there.Cats | Schatzi met some kitties before transporting to Colorado and was unfazed by them, but he has not lived with cats. We suspect with a good introduction, Schatzi will be fine with cats.Children | No experience yet, but respectful kids should be fine.Training | Schatzi knows many commands including "sit," "down," "stay," "come," "paw," "other paw," and "place" for his bed. He walks well on a leash His greatest challenge is crate training as he has severe anxiety when left alone in the crate. Leash | He's very good on a leash. Activity Level | Schatzi is energetic and playful and enjoys going on long walks and hikes, playing fetch and chasing us around the back yard. Schatzi LOVES LOVES LOVES to spend time outdoors - he's not a fit for a home without outdoor open space for him to enjoy. Schatzi is looking for an active adopter who will give him lots of excercise and social time.Health Notes I Update to date on all vaccinations, Schatzi is neutered and heartworm negative.Thank you! | Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $475 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $425 for 1-6 years, $375 for dogs 7-10 years, and $250 for 11+ years of age. Purebred dogs regardless of age are $525. These minimum donations help to defer the costs of initial vet care, food, and supplies while in foster care that currently average over $700 per dog).Meeting Dogs | Foster dogs may have meet & greets by appointment to approved applicants only. To become an approved applicant - please complete the application process. Please know | Available dogs are updated as soon as possible and we do our best to keep it up-to-date, but occasionally dogs shown may become unavailable without notice due to a pending adoption. We encourage you to put in an application even if you don't see your new family member currently, as once you are approved, we can place you on the waiting list for first priority on the selection of the dogs we do bring in. That means you can often meet a dog upon transport arrival and adopt before they even make it to this page!We can not guarantee that a dog you wish to adopt is available by the time your adoption application is submitted, processed, and approved. Your application is good for one year from the date of applying for any dog as long as it is a good fit for your family and your lifestyle.
