Description:

Please go to our website at www.milehighlabmission.com to find out more about this pet and to submit an adoption application. Please DO NOT call or email us; all information about current dogs available, adoption donations, vetting, and this specific dog are on our website. We are a non-profit organization and we are completely 100% volunteer run. We DO NOT have a shelter and only approved applicants can make appointments with our foster homes to meet the dogs we have. Our volunteers will not discuss dogs we have available for adoption UNTIL you have an application on file and are approved to adopt.General Notes | Get ready to be struck by Lightning! This incredibly sweet, happy-go-lucky Lab mix is making the journey from Texas to Colorado, and he’s bringing a whole lot of love with him. Fully potty-trained and eager to play, he’s just waiting for the perfect family to light up his world. Want to adopt this dog? Please do not email us. Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP, and an Adoption Coordinator will be in touch within a few days. Our standard application processing timeline is 12 - 14 days. Personality | Friendly, happy, and incredibly agreeable! Lightning is a total sweetheart who brings a bright, positive energy to the room. He is just looking for a family to love.Story | Pulled form a high-kill shelter outside of Dallas just in the knick of time! Other Dogs | Great with other dogs! Lightning is incredibly playful and would love a furry sibling who wants to romp around with him. Cats | Lightning has not been cat tested yet.Children | We haven't seen him around kids yet, but given his sweet and happy nature, we think he’d do well! Given he's a big, excitable boy, he may do best bigger kids he won't accidentally knock over. Training | Fully potty trained! Lightning is a wonderful houseguest who reliably stands by the door to let you know he needs to go out—no accidents here! He knows "no" and just learned "sit." He is crate trained and rides amazing in the car! He'd be the best roadtrip buddy!Leash | A lovely walking buddy! He walks quite nicely on a leash, though his curiosity gets the best of him and he might pull just a bit if he spots something exciting he wants to check out.Activity Level | Medium energy. Lightning is the perfect balance! He’s always down for a good play session and will be a great companion for your Colorado adventures, but he isn't bouncing off the walls.Health Notes | Healthy and happy :)Thank you! | Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $575 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year old, $525 for 1 - 6 years old, $475 for dogs 7 - 10 years old, and $350 for 11+ years of age. Purebred dogs regardless of age are $625. These minimum donations help to defer the costs of initial vet care, food, transportation to Colorado, and supplies while in foster care (that currently average over $750 per dog).Meeting Dogs | Foster dogs may have meet and greets by appointment to approved applicants only. To become an approved applicant - please complete the application process. We will not respond to emails about animal availability or allow meet and greets without an approved adoption application on file. Please Note | Available dogs are updated as soon as possible and we do our best to keep it up-to-date, but occasionally dogs shown may become unavailable without notice due to a pending adoption. We can not guarantee that a dog you wish to adopt is available by the time your adoption application is submitted, processed, and approved. Your application is good for one year from the date of applying for any dog as long as it is a good fit for your family and your lifestyle. We encourage you to put in an application even if you don't see your new family member currently, as once you are approved, we can place you on the waiting list for first priority on the selection of the dogs we do bring in. That means you can often meet a dog upon transport arrival and adopt before they even make it to this page!
