Description:

Please go to our website at www.milehighlabmission.com to find out more about this pet and to submit an adoption application. Please DO NOT call or email us; all information about current dogs available, adoption donations, vetting, and this specific dog are on our website. We are a non-profit organization and we are completely 100% volunteer run. We DO NOT have a shelter and only approved applicants can make appointments with our foster homes to meet the dogs we have. Our volunteers will not discuss dogs we have available for adoption UNTIL you have an application on file and are approved to adopt.General Notes | Marsh is a black lab/GSP/malinois mix puppy with a heart as deep as a Texas bayou, currently trekking toward a brand-new life in Colorado. While he’s a bit shy and still finding his footing, this gentle Black Lab is looking for a soft place to land where he can truly "soak in" the love of a forever family. He may start off quiet, but once he’s comfortable, he’ll be a steady, calming presence—proving that life is always better when you’re wandering through the mountains with Marsh by your side. Want to adopt this dog? Please do not email us. Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP, and an Adoption Coordinator will be in touch within a few days. Our standard application processing timeline is 12 - 14 days. Personality | Super sweet and a little shy! Marsh is a great cuddle buddy!Story | He found himself at a shelter with his brother outside of Houston. The shelter staff didn't want to see these sweet boys grow up in a shelter and reached out to MHLM to help. Other Dogs | Great with other dogs! He went to puppy kindergarten and loves to meet new doggy friends! He's been fostered with 6 week old puppies up to a 9 year old lab, and does wonderfully with all them. He was super gentle and sweet with the tiny puppies and enjoys playing chase with the 1 year old dog in his foster home. He's also been respectful to the grumpy 9 year old lab and takes corrections from him well. Cats | Marsh us doing great with there kitty in his foster home. He mostly ignores the cat and gives him plenty of space.Children | Given he's a Malinois mix, he might do better with older kids. Malinois dogs generally aren't recommended for young kiddos, however, with an experienced owner, he could do just fine. He's a very sweet boy with all ages currently! Training | He is potty trained and knows several commands! He sleeps in his crate at night and is doing great with crate training, but he will still cry in the crate sometimes. He may be best with an adopter that's home more often than not and doesn't have shared walls with neighbors. He really bonds to his people and wants to spend all day, every day by your side. Even with free reign of the house and yard, he prefers to be right by your side! He'll grab his chew toy and lay by your feet. His DNA test shows he has Malinois in him so he is one smart cookie! He thrives on learning new things and will need consistent training to be the best boy he can be!Leash | Good on a leash! He's been doing well on walks but is a young pup who will need continued training as he grows up!Activity Level | Moderate/high. This sweet boys had a DNA test done that showed he's lab/GSP/malinois which means he is expected to be a smart and energetic boy! He may be a great running partner or backpacking partner once he's older. At 5 months old, he doesn't seem to be quite as high energy as a full bred Malinois, but still thrives on getting plenty of exercise and mental stimulation! Currently, he still seems to fall into the moderate category and rotates his well between nap and playtime.Health Notes | Healthy and happy :)Thank you! | Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $575 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year old, $525 for 1 - 6 years old, $475 for dogs 7 - 10 years old, and $350 for 11+ years of age. Purebred dogs regardless of age are $625. These minimum donations help to defer the costs of initial vet care, food, transportation to Colorado, and supplies while in foster care (that currently average over $750 per dog).Meeting Dogs | Foster dogs may have meet and greets by appointment to approved applicants only. To become an approved applicant - please complete the application process. We will not respond to emails about animal availability or allow meet and greets without an approved adoption application on file. Please Note | Available dogs are updated as soon as possible and we do our best to keep it up-to-date, but occasionally dogs shown may become unavailable without notice due to a pending adoption. We can not guarantee that a dog you wish to adopt is available by the time your adoption application is submitted, processed, and approved. Your application is good for one year from the date of applying for any dog as long as it is a good fit for your family and your lifestyle. We encourage you to put in an application even if you don't see your new family member currently, as once you are approved, we can place you on the waiting list for first priority on the selection of the dogs we do bring in. That means you can often meet a dog upon transport arrival and adopt before they even make it to this page!
