Flat-Coated Retriever / Mixed (Medium Coat)
Description:
Meet ONYX Onyx was once just another number on the euthanasia list at Contra Costa Animal Services. A beautiful, gentle soul forced to lie on a cold shelter floor, waiting… not knowing if anyone would come for him. It’s devastating to imagine how a dog this sweet, this loving, was so close to losing his life simply because no one chose him in time. Life has not been kind to Onyx. He didn’t deserve to be abandoned, and he certainly didn’t deserve to be overlooked. Yet despite everything he’s been through, Onyx never lost his gentle heart. He still loves people. He still trusts. He still wants nothing more than to be close to his human and feel safe again. Onyx is about 4 years old and weighs around 45 lbs. We believe he may be a Flat-Coated Retriever mix, possibly even a Newfoundland mix—whatever his breed, he is truly stunning inside and out. He is vaccinated, microchipped, and neutered. He does well with people and can be good with other dogs with proper introductions. What Onyx wants most is simple: a home. A soft place to sleep. Someone who won’t give up on him. Someone who will choose him and never let him feel disposable again. Onyx would make a devoted companion and best friend to the person who opens their heart to him. If you can adopt, foster, or foster-to-adopt Onyx, please contact the rescue. Sharing his story could also save his life. Please don’t let Onyx be overlooked again
