Description:
Before introducing Uno, we want to highlight that May 1st is our region's Big Day of Giving, led by the Sacramento Region Community Foundation. You can kick off your generosity early with donations starting April 17th. Even a small contribution of just $10 at bigdayofgiving.org/shepheroes can make a difference in the lives of abandoned and at-risk shepherds across Northern California. Join us in creating change—together, we can transform lives!Meet Uno, the charming 5 5-month-old pup who's ready to find his forever home! Although he has a sweet and gentle temperament allowing him to make friends quickly, including kids and dogs, his deep bark and wagging tail is confusing when he initially approaches people to say hello. Shepherd people realize that he's a puppy who needs a little bit of work on greetings since he's also a treat connoisseur, immediately dropping his bravado for treats. Giving kisses and snuggling into legs waggging his tail like a helicopter propeller after treats shows us that he didn't have guidance in proper meeting etiquette before he ended up at the shelter. We saw that he hadn't experienced much in life when he approached new things like parked motorcycles and unknown objects making sure to make himself big and loud, only to realize when he sniffed them they weren't scary at all. This lovable little guy who's shelter name was Bing quickly made himself at home in his foster family. His favorite things? Toys, soft beds, and cozy cuddles! Uno didn’t waste any time settling into his new plush bed radiating happiness in a warm environment. Since he didn't know his shelter name, his foster family named him Uno after his ears on arrival. And those ears have found their way to be upright so he can be even more handsome. His favorite toy is a soft frisbee although he's partial to all kinds of toys. He loves chasing balls and has learned the concept of fetch. When given the oppurtunity, Uno loves to hang out in the yard taking in the fresh air and the sounds of the neighborhood. Since he's of the age where he could get into trouble eating the flowers and general mischief, he's supervised in the fenced yard. Despite being the only dog in his foster home, Uno has proven to be a social butterfly! He recently spent the night with one of our wonderful volunteers and got along famously with their three dogs. He then had a fantastic time playing with Otte and Murphy (our pups who have now found their forever families) and respectfully interacted with older resident shepherds during a fun transport stopover. In his foster home, Uno lives with birds and has already won the hearts of the neighborhood kids, who come over to play with him daily. His affectionate nature and playful spirit make him an ideal companion for a family willing to guide Uno through more socialization and positive experiences. He's almost through loosing all this baby teeth in favor of new pearly white adult teeth. His foster family has even found some of his baby teeth alhough most puppies swallow their loose teeth. Uno generally chews on his toys when his teeth are achey and has leaned that human hands although soft and convenient to chew on, are not allowed. If you're looking for a sweet friend who loves to engage with older kids and other dogs, Uno may be the perfect match for you! Meet him and see just how special he is!Uno has settled in and mastered crate training, pottying in his designated area outside and has been getting lots of kibble to add weight to his frame. He finished his antibiotics that helped him recover from kennel cough that he was exposed to at the crowded municipal shelter. Uno also has had a couple of baths to shed the shelter life behind him and had his nails trimmed. Uno recovered easily from his neuter surgery with a few down days to heal properly. He rides nicely in the car, settling in shotgun or with a doggy seat belt in the back seat as well as crated. Please consider adopting Uno only if you have the time and commitment to raise a young shepherd puppy into a well-rounded adult dog. Investing time in training Uno will also be beneficial as he's a lovely treat motivated blank slate and so ready to learn. Shepherd or similar working/herding dog experience will be necessary in becoming a forever match for Uno.Have you visited our YouTube channel?
