Gumbo is a 2-year-old, 79-pound bundle of pure sweetness, a mix of American Bulldog and German Shorthair Pointer. Gumbo was rescued in September of 2024 and has been living the life with his foster. He's a true triple-threat...handsome, goofy, and athletic! Here's what Gumbo's foster has to say about him: "I first spotted Gumbo in a gated public enclosure on a scorching 100-degre day, tied up and near heat exhaustion. I noticed him while stopped at a traffic light and couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong. I went home, grabbed a sunshade, food and water, thinking I'd help the dog and his owner. But when I returned, I learned the heartbreaking truth - the person who had him didn't want him and had abandoned him there. I gave Gumbo some water and set up the sunshade, but as I walked away, I glanced back and saw the defeat in his eyes. My heart told me, "You have to be his voice." I turned around, untied him, and in that moment, his joy was beyond words. Now, Gumbo is safe, thriving, and ready to share his love with a forever family." Gumbo is already ahead of the game when it comes to training! He’s a proud graduate of our PAWs to Prison program, where he mastered an incredible 22 commands — everything from “heel” to “go to bed” and even “hide and seek!"
