Male Dog, Beagle

Beagle / Mixed (Medium Coat)

Description:

Meet Winslow, the beagle mix! Winslow arrived to the Shelter after his previous guardian was unable to continue caring for him. Winslow may not look like a beagle upon first glance but he sure bays like a beagle when he is in the mood to chat. He enjoys going for little walks around the shelter grounds to get his sniffari time in. Staff have had Winslow interact with two other small breed dogs where he sniffed and coexisted. A home with another dog may be a fit in his next home. We do not have any history of Winslow with children or cats. Winslow is recovering from an old injury. His next family will need to be mindful of his healing process as he transitions to the new home – which our clinic team is more than happy to chat about with you when you come to meet!Winslow finds the Shelter environment a bit stressful and sometimes barks at new people and things that spook him. This behavior may be heightened in the Shelter environment (which can be a bit inherently stressful due to the layout, strangers constantly walking through, etc) but also could occur in a home environment. The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation is now offering “Pawsitivity Bucks” with every dog adoption. This $200 training voucher is a way for newly adopted canines and their guardians to connect with local positive reinforcement based behavior consultants and get their relationship started off on the right paw! Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
