Male Dog, Cane Corso Mastiff

Cane Corso Mastiff (Medium Coat)

Description:

Meet Turbo, the Cane Corso! This big, brindle guy came to the Shelter after his previous home just wasn’t the right fit. Turbo was in a home with another large breed dog who he enjoyed playing with but sometimes the play would get too rough resulting in some conflict between the dogs. We understand that sometimes, two dogs just aren’t the right fit of living with each other. So Turbo came back to the Shelter to find another home that would be a b better fit. We learned a lot about him from his previous guardian during his time in that home. Turbo’s favorite activity is running as fast as he can. He is friendly with people but sometimes jumps on them when excited. He knows “sit”, “shake” and “lie down”. He enjoyed spending most of his time outdoors and living on a property that was enclosed acreage previously but can jump fences that are under 6 feet tall. Turbo is a big, strong dog. He would thrive with an adopter who is savvy with extra large breed dogs and has the management to keep Turbo contained and stimulated. Turbo may do well in a home with a well-matched dog, provided there is a slow, thoughtful introduction and management. Or, he may be happiest as the only pup. A home free of felines or small critters would be best as Turbo has been observed to have some prey drive. The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation is now offering “Pawsitivity Bucks” with every dog adoption. This $200 training voucher is a way for newly adopted canines and their guardians to connect with local positive reinforcement based behavior consultants and get their relationship started off on the right paw! Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
