Description:
Meet Squirt, our not so little pitbull mix. Squirt came to the Shelter after a good Samaritan found him as a scared stray and brought him to the Shelter for safety. Squirt is a shy guy who found the transition to the Shelter a bit unnerving but, with time and patience, is gaining confidence with the new environment and people. Squirt has a little softly wagging tail when meeting new people and likes to rest his head on peopleâs laps when comfortable to solicit attention. He does seem to perk up in the company of other dogs and enjoys romping around the yard with dogs he has met at the Shelter. They give him the confidence to navigate the world around him. Due to this - a home with another dog is strongly recommended to be Squirt's emotional support friend. Any resident dogs should meet at the Shelter prior to adoption. We do not have any history of Squirt with cats or children. Adopters should be patient in the transition as Squirt acclimates to the new people and environment of his adoptive home. Squirt's adoption fee has been sponsored by a good samaritan! The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation is now offering âPawsitivity Bucksâ with every dog adoption. This $200 training voucher is a way for newly adopted canines and their guardians to connect with local positive reinforcement based behavior consultants and get their relationship started off on the right paw! Please note: Our Santa Cruz locationâs Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end âmeet and greetsâ (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If youâd like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them
