Female Dog, Vizsla

Vizsla / Mixed (Medium Coat)

Description:

Are you an introvert searching for a canine kindred spirit? Meet Rose. Rose is a 5-year-old, spayed female mixed breed weighing about 45 pounds, and she is the definition of a homebody. This gentle girl thrives in calm, predictable environments. Her favorite things include peaceful walks in quiet, woodsy areas, relaxing at home, and—adorably—tucking herself into bed each night. (Yes, she grabs her blanket and does it herself. It’s as cute as it sounds.) Rose isn’t interested in busy breweries, dog parks, or loud social scenes. Those things feel overwhelming to her, and that’s okay. She’s looking for a patient, understanding adopter who will respect her shy nature and help her feel safe by keeping life low-stress and enriching it in ways she truly enjoys. In the home, Rose has been an easy and lovely house guest. She happily greets her people with full-body wiggles and often carries a toy in her mouth when they return. She appears comfortable with small dogs and may do well with a smaller canine companion, but she is fearful of larger dogs. A dog-savvy cat could also be a possibility with slow, thoughtful introductions. Rose has been waiting at the shelter since 9/30 and has unfortunately been overlooked. As the holidays approach, we’re hoping to find her the cozy, loving home she deserves. Could that home be yours? Rose's adoption fee is sponsored by the Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation thanks to “Leave No One Behind fund” – designed to adopter’s eyes towards animals who have been in the Shelter’s care a little longer than average waiting for the right adopter. The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation is now offering “Pawsitivity Bucks” with every dog adoption. This $200 training voucher is a way for newly adopted canines and their guardians to connect with local positive reinforcement based behavior consultants and get their relationship started off on the right paw! Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
