Meet Maya, the Great Pyrenees mix. Mayaâs previous guardian reported that she was an indoor dog who enjoyed sleeping on the couch. Maya has lived with cats previously and did well. Any feline friends in the next home should be introduced slowly and thoughtfully. Maya has been a bit shy since her entry to the Shelter, which is common. She has lived with young children and has been reported to be social with strangers previously. We anticipate Maya will blossom after decompressing from the Shelter and transitioning to her adoptive home. Maya may do well in a home with another dog provided there is a meet and greet at the Shelter prior to adoption. The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation is now offering âPawsitivity Bucksâ with every dog adoption. This $200 training voucher is a way for newly adopted canines and their guardians to connect with local positive reinforcement based behavior consultants and get their relationship started off on the right paw!Please note: Our Santa Cruz locationâs Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end âmeet and greetsâ (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If youâd like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
