Female Dog, Chihuahua
Chihuahua / Terrier / Mixed (Medium Coat)
Description:
Meet Daisy, the senior chihuahua mix. Daisy is a bit bigger and more leggy (tall) than your average chihuahua. Daisy does have a history of living with a large breed dog. She also has been around chickens, but is not recommended to live with them due to some observed prey drive. In her previous home, she was a bit nervous with new people. At the Shelter, we also observed this but after a few minutes (and a couple of yummy treats), Daisy warmed up and made new friends. Daisy spent a brief time in a home where she was described as a sweetheart and a lap dog. She enjoyed sunbathing in the backyard and going for walks. She knows âsitâ and âwaitâ and does fine riding in the car. Typical to older, small breed dogs â adopters should be mindful that they sometimes need dental cleanings. Adopters are recommended to bring Daisy to the vet after adoption to determine if she needs a cleaning and/or extractions. The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation is now offering âPawsitivity Bucksâ with every dog adoption. This $200 training voucher is a way for newly adopted canines and their guardians to connect with local positive reinforcement based behavior consultants and get their relationship started off on the right paw! Please note: Our Santa Cruz locationâs Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end âmeet and greetsâ (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If youâd like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
