Female Dog, Miniature Pinscher
Miniature Pinscher / Chihuahua / Mixed (Medium Coat)
Description:
Meet Cookie, the miniature pinscher chihuahua mix. Cookie arrived to the Shelter after her previous guardian was moving and unable to continue caring for her. She lived in a home with a 1 year old and 6 year old child. Cookie was outdoors in her previous home but would likely enjoy indoor living in her next home for her safety and security. Adopters should be mindful that Cookie may not be house trained and to be patient in the transition. She loves to play, primarily with squeaky toys. Loud noises sometimes spook her. Cookie has a history of being a bit cautious around other dogs. If there are any resident dogs in the home (recommended to be calm and neutral), adopters should bring them to meet Cookie prior to adoption. Cookie has been around two guinea pigs in her previous home. Any other species of animals may be a fit provided there is a slow, thoughtful introduction. The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation is now offering âPawsitivity Bucksâ with every dog adoption. This $200 training voucher is a way for newly adopted canines and their guardians to connect with local positive reinforcement based behavior consultants and get their relationship started off on the right paw! Please note: Our Santa Cruz locationâs Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end âmeet and greetsâ (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If youâd like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
