Description:
Meet Chewy, the pittie! Chewy came to the Shelter along with his friend Apache(who is also up for adoption). Staff have observed that Chewy was initially fearful and unsure â keeping his distance from new people. After several days, staff started to see his personality blossom â observed to be playful, gently soliciting pets, and wiggly. Chewy would thrive with a dog savvy adopter who will be patient as he continues to acclimate. He is still gaining confidence when walking on leash so adopters should be patient as he gets comfortable with leash walking. Chewy has met other dogs since his arrival and has been a little unsure. He may enjoy a home with another dog after a meet ân greet at the Shelter as well as a slow, thoughtful introduction. Chewy has lived in a home with dog-savvy cats previously. A feline friend in his next home, paired with a slow, thoughtful introduction, may be a fit!The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation is now offering âPawsitivity Bucksâ with every dog adoption. This $200 training voucher is a way for newly adopted canines and their guardians to connect with local positive reinforcement based behavior consultants and get their relationship started off on the right paw! Please note: Our Santa Cruz locationâs Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end âmeet and greetsâ (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If youâd like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
