Male Dog, Husky
Husky (Medium Coat)
Description:
Picante is one of the most affectionate and sweetest dogs I've ever met. He is a very quick learner and was able to settle in and acclimate extremely quickly after being taken home.In the first three days:- Immediately on the first night, he climbed into bed and wanted to cuddle with me. He had no problem being pet and shown affection.- He did have an accident and peed on the floor while I wasn't watching him on the second day, but has been perfect aside from that.- He did show a little bit of resource guarding on the first day. He growled at me when I reached for a bone that I gave him, but in only a few days did not react whatsoever when I take a toy from him and can even pet him and touch his food when he is eating.- He pulled on his leash on the first couple days, but I was able to train that out of him extremely quickly and is amazing on leash at matching my pace.In the first week:- He was able to get used to being home alone with no problem at all. I slowly increased the time I went out and kept an eye on him using a home security camera to keep an eye on him. - I have been able to leave for up to 5 hours for work, but can probably tolerate even more. He has free roam of the apartment and does not ever try to get into anything or even mess with anything aside from his own toys (but I installed child locks beforehand just in case). He is extremely quiet while home alone and does not bark or make any sounds. (monitored using security cam that picks up noise).- He didn't seem to fully know sit, but was quickly able to learn and is in the process of doing it without treats. Also in the process of teaching him down, stay, and fetch. He is treat motivated at home, but doesn't really care that much about treats when outside. Overall:Picante is a very well behaved dog that is super loving and loves being cuddled and played with. He loves cuddling with you in bed and is really good at lazing in bed with you and not waking you up in the mornings. At home he likes to play fetch, hide and seak for treats, nap in the sun, and play with his toys. Picante rarely barks, but does do the husky whine sometimes when he wants attention or to be played with, but is never loud. Like most Huskies, he is very energetic and loves to play. He also has an amazingly soft coat of fur, but does shed a lot and requires a lot of brushing. He is extremely good at having his paws handled as I like to wipe down his paws every time we come back, so I don't think he will have any trouble getting his claws trimmed. He is a little bit picky with his food and will not always eat kibble by itself. I have found that combining some wet food or broth with his kibble will make him eat when he doesn't finish his food. When he is outside, is energetic, curious and never seems to run out of energy when he's out, but always immediately calms down when we get home. I don't see him having any issues with children, has been very good around other dogs, and has not been reactive towards cats when we see them on walks. Overall, I think Picante would do well in a lot of homes and families. He would probably do well somewhere with a backyard, but that isn't necessary as long as he gets to go outside plenty. I've attached a few pictures so it'd be great if they could be posted on his page. Please let me know if you have any questions or if anyone interested has questions as well.
