Description:

09/16/25 16:10Newt has been in our care since 1/11/25 and would greatly benefit from foster, adoption, or rescue. Placed on needs rescue.09/22/25 10:57What did we do on today’s adventure:Hi, I’m NEWT. Today was one of the best days. First, my friend clipped on my leash—so fast! I barely had time to wiggle. My paws were bouncing before we even left. Adventure! Adventure! We drove to Jeffrey Fontana Park, and oh boy, when my paws hit the dirt, I wanted to go. The world was full of smells—trees, squirrels, other dogs who had passed this way. I pulled a little at first (who wouldn’t?), but I made sure to look back, just to check: You still there? Good. Let’s go! Four miles of trails! My ears flopped, my tail wagged, and every stepfelt like flying. I sniffed every corner of the earth, but always circledback to make sure my human was smiling. And yes—they were. And then—oh, the grand finale. A stop at Starbucks. My very own pup cup! Sweet, creamy clouds just for me. I licked the cup clean, proud of my prize after such a mighty trek. By the time we headed back, I was happy, tired, and very sure of onething: there’s nothing better than a trail, a pup cup, and being with my friend. Because I’m NEWT. And I’m a good boy. What should potential adopters know about me:This morning I clipped Newt’s leash on quicker than usual. He was buzzing with excitement, tail wagging like a motor, and honestly—I was just as eager. A good hike always feels like a reset, and with Newt by my side, it’s even better. We headed to Jeffrey Fontana Park. The moment his paws touched the trail, he was off, pulling just a bit, nose to the ground, eager to lead the way. That’s Newt—navigator of paths, both on the trail and even when I’m driving. He likes to think he’s in charge of direction, and I let him believe it, because he really does keep us moving forward. The four miles passed in a rhythm—his curious sniffs, my steady steps, and those little check-ins he always gives me. A glance back, a quick wag, a reminder: We’re in this together. It’s one of my favorite things about him—his need to connect, even when his nose says “adventure.” Walking with him reminds me to slow down, enjoy thetrail, and celebrate the simple wins—like four miles, a tired dog, anda tail that never stops wagging.Three words to describe me:Loving, Curious, Ready08/19/25 15:12What did we do on today’s adventure:The sun peeked over the horizon, casting golden rays across the quiet neighborhood. But inside one house, the day had already begun with a flurry of excitement. Newt, the goofiest, happiest dog you could ever meet, was already spinning in circles, his tail wagging like a helicopter blade. My friend grabbed the leash, and that was it—Newt exploded with joy. He wiggled so much it took three tries to clip the leash on. Hispaws danced, his ears flopped, and his eyes sparkled with anticipation. Today was a park day.At the trailhead, Newt took a deep breath, his nose twitching at the buffet of smells. And then, they were off—five glorious miles of dirt paths, sun-dappled clearings, and endless sniffing opportunities. Newt stayed close, occasionally glancing up at my friend with agoofy grin, as if to say, “Isn’t this the best day ever?” They paused in a sunny patch where Newt flopped down, belly up, soaking in the warmth. Then came the dirt—oh, the glorious dirt! Newt rolled with abandon, legs in the air, tongue lolling out, completely in his element. Every treat my friend offered was met with a happy bounce and a tail thump. Newt didn’t just eat treats—he celebrated them. After the hike, they made one last stop: the drive-thru for a pup cup. Newt’s eyes widened as the creamy delight was handed over. He devoured it with gusto, whipped cream dotting his nose like a badge of honor. Back in the car, Newt curled up in the back seat, his head resting onmy friend’s jacket. The sun filtered through the window, and with afull belly and a heart full of joy, Newt drifted off to sleep, dreaming of trails, treats, and the next big adventure. What should potential adopters know about me:If you're looking for a dog who radiates joy and turns every moment into a celebration, let me introduce you to Newt. I’ve had the pleasure of walking Newt, and every outing with him isa reminder of how beautiful life can be when you share it with a dog who truly loves it. From the moment I pick up his leash, Newt becomes a wiggly ball of excitement. He can barely contain himself—his tail wagging, his paws dancing, and his whole body saying, “Let’s go, let’s go!” We recently hiked five miles together at the park, and it was nothingshort of magical. Newt stayed right by my side the entire time, checking in with happy glances and goofy grins. He explored every smell like it was a treasure, rolled in the dirt with pure bliss, and stretched out in the sun like he was soaking in happiness itself. He’s incredibly food-motivated, which makes him a joy to work with. Every treat is met with a bounce and a tail thump, and he listens so well when he knows a reward is coming. After our hike, we stoppedfor a pup cup—his favorite treat—and he devoured it with whipped cream all over his nose. Then, in the back seat on the ride home, hecurled up and fell asleep, completely content. Newt is goofy, loyal, and full of love. He’s the kind of dog who makes you laugh, keeps you company, and reminds you to enjoy the little things. If you’re looking for a companion who will be your adventure buddy, your cuddle partner, and your daily dose of joy—Newt is your guy.Three words to describe me:Gentle, Curious, SillyWhat did we do on today’s adventure:Newt was all wiggles and tail wags as soon as I picked him up! He tried to climb into the front seat for kisses but then settled in the back, watching the road like a little co-pilot. On our walk, he loved exploring at the end of the leash, taking breaks to roll in the grass or rest in the shade. At one point, he planted himself in a flower bush, making for a perfectly picturesque moment. We took a long break at the park, and he sat right next to me, resting his paw or head on my leg, happily soaking up pets and ear rubs. What should potential adopters know about me:Newt is a three-year-old mixed breed dog who is affectionate and loves playing with toys. He has the cutest over bite, which gives him a charming Snoopy-like appearance. Newt is motivated by treats and knows how to sit. While he could benefit from some leash training, he would thrive in a home where he can enjoy daily walks or spend time in the yard with you. Newt would make a sweet and happy companion for someone who leads an active lifestyle or for anyone who appreciates quiet moments with a loving dog by their side.Three words to describe me: Affectionate, Playful, Happy7/31/25Newt did so well on the hike, passing dogs, people and bikes all inclose quarters. He checked in routinely and seeked out affection, loved getting pets and scratches. He knows sit and was patientaround his pup cup. A great dog! He did start off pretty excited inthe shelter and jumped right in the car, settled in in no time.
