Male Dog, Labrador Retriever

Labrador Retriever (Medium Coat)

Description:

01/16/26This dog is a sensitive and alert pup who shows consistent stress signals in the kennel, including alarm barking, spinning, and jumping, but is calm and tolerant when handled outside of the kennel. He responds well to gentle handling and can be managed with patience. A visual barrier or additional time outside the kennel may help him feel more comfortable. He would benefit from a formal behavioral evaluation to guide his ongoing care and ensure he finds the right home. This dog would thrive in a patient, experienced home that understands his sensitivities and can continue building his confidence.01/08/26 10:28Shows signs of FAS in kennel, alarm barking, jumping on kennel and spinning.02/09/26 11:19Wow, what a pawtastic day I had! The moment I realized I washeading out of the shelter, I tried to hold still while my new friend harnessed me for our adventure. After doing my business, I leapt into the car like a seasoned pro—tail wagging, ears perked, and ready to soak up the sunshine, fresh air, and freedom. Our destination? Los Alamitos Trail! We explored a full 4 miles together, alternating walking and running. I was so happy. I walked (and ran!) like a pro, keeping pace with my new friend, although Iwas excited when we first started and I got very excited when I saw those crazy squirrels! It was easy to stay focused when other dogs passed by but I really wanted to play with a few of them so I would bow down and bounce up with excitement. After our hike, we stopped at Jeffrey Fontana Park so I could checkout all the dogs running free at the park. I could have made some new friends, but we didn’t have enough time. I got a few sniffs in and checked out some ground squirrels, my fave! What You Should Know About Me:Halo is the kind of dog who instantly makes you smile just by being around him. While the shelter environment is stressful, Halo is carefree and happy! He was SUCH a good boy! This was our second adventure together and he proved yet again to be a fabulous companion. He handled a long, active outing with ease, showing offhis playful, adventurous, and curious nature.Halo knows sit, down, and look! He walks well on leash, with gentle guidance and occasional redirection when distracted. We worked onheel and touch which he practiced with ease. He will walk right past other dogs when given enough space. He enjoyed the beef liver treats but was not super motivated by them. He did respond well to attention, pets and positive reinforcement. He loved exploring, jumping up on boulders, and soaking in all the new sights and smells the world has to offer. This special boy would thrive in most homes that offer structure, love, and regular outdoor adventures. I know that Halo will make a wonderful family member and bring so much unconditional love to your home. His positive energy, sweet disposition and playful spirit make him an absolute delight. If you’re looking for a loyal bestie who is just as smart as he is sweet, Halo might be your perfect match.Three words to describe me:Playful, Smart and Lovable
