Female Dog, Pit Bull Terrier
Pit Bull Terrier (Medium Coat)
Description:
In Need of URGENT RescueExtremely fearful in shelter environmentFlora is a beautiful 4-year-old white and tan pit bull with a gentle soul. The shelter environment can be overwhelming for her, and she can be very nervous at first, but beneath that uncertainty is a truly loving dog just waiting for a chance to feel safe. When Flora is out of her kennel, she needs a time and patience to warm up to new people. Once she realizes she can trust you, her sweet personality shinesâsheâll crawl right into your lap, lean against you, and soak up every bit of comfort and affection she can. Those quiet moments with Flora are incredibly special and rewarding.Flora would do best with a calm, understanding home thatâs willing to let her move at her own pace and show her that the world isnât so scary. In return, youâll gain a devoted, affectionate companion who bonds deeply with her people. If you have a gentle heart and a cozy lap, Flora may be the perfect match for you.01/30/26 16:42 MHFlora's stress has decreased significantly since she arrived at the shelter. With some special attention, love and patience she has blossomed! She walks nicely for her handlers and asks for pets by placing her head into your lap. Since she is a sensitive gal, she tends to come off denfensive when meeting other dogs, especially in confined spaces. Potential doggie siblings should meet prior to adoption. The ideal adopter will have experience with slow introductions and give Flora plenty of time and space to warm up on her own terms. Volunteers give her an `emotional support toy` during outings, to help her feel safe and in-control when moving through new spaces. Flora loves love, toys and treats; what a rewarding experience it would be to give Flora a safe and secure home. Could you be her soft landing?02/18/26 09:16What did we do on todayâs adventure:Today was absolutely a special day! I got to go out on my first Tails & Trails adventure. It was so wonderful to smell the smells and walkin the fresh air with my new friend. I came out to meet my newfriend not quite sure what was planned. The moment I realized I was going on an adventure, I tried to contain my excitement and wiggle. Still unsure, I needed a little help into the car, but once I felt the plush mat, I was VERY happy. We headed to Lake Almaden for a nice long walk. As soon as we got out of the car, I knew this was going to be a great day. I walked with nice leash manners, showing off some of my best sits and downs! I was very intrigued by the ground squirrels running about, but was encouraged to keep moving, so I continued to walk. I also found the geese very interesting, but they were not very friendly. I was not bothered or interested in the dogs passing by because I get to seeand hear lots of dogs in the shelter. Everyone I passed by commented on my cuteness and my new friend REALLY lovedsnuggling with me when we took a break. Today was full of snuggles, sniffs, smiles, and tail wags. I canât wait for my forever family to find me!What should potential adopters know about me:A day with sweet Flora. Today was such a rewarding and joyful dayâI got to take one of the sweetest pups out for an adventure, and she truly made it special. From the moment I saw Flora, I was impressed with her calm but friendly demeanor. Her shelter notes indicated she was struggling in the shelter and was understandably fearful so I was not sure what to expect. As soon as she trotted out, she let me harness her and was ready to go. Right when we walked out of the shelter, she saw the large dog sculpture and started barking at it but once she got closer, she realized it was no big deal. She was not sure about jumping intomy SUV, so I slowly and gently lifted her into the backseat with no issues. She funnily sat on the floor, with her front paws on the backseat. Turning around to look at me and literally smile! We headed to Almaden Lake Park for a nice long walk. She semed so happy and walked nicely on leash, staying close and checking in periodically. This girl has such a gentle (old) soul. We walked about 3 miles, stopping here and there for a snuggle, belly rub and to take lots of photos. Her gentle spirit was contagiousâpeople we passed couldnât help but smile and comment on what a sweet dog sheseemed to be. While on our walk, we passed lots of walkers, dogs, ground squirrels, and geese with no issues. I made sure to give her lots of space and even with the small, vocal and reactive dogs, she did great! Flora is a true pitopotomus and will make a fabulous family member. It was wonderful to see how well she did outside the shelter environment and if you give her a chance, she will shine even brighter once she knows you are her person (people).Three words to describe me:Gentle, Sweet, Affectionate
