Female Dog, Pit Bull Terrier

Pit Bull Terrier (Medium Coat)

Description:

01/28/26 15:20Meet Cali!Cali is a mellow, sweet, and polite girl who loves rolling in leaves, lounging in the sun, and enjoying treats like hot dogs, string cheese, and pup cups. She strolls calmly on walks, stays close to her humans, and observes the world around her with curiosity.Cali enjoys gentle pets and back rubs, but she is sensitive around her ears and head. She can also be leash-sensitive, sometimes avoiding the leash, barking, or showing frustration when it’s first presented, so she does best with a patient adopter experienced with handling nervous or sensitive dogs. With a calm, understanding home, Cali thrives and shows her affectionate, relaxed, and loving side—she’s a loyal companion ready to enjoy peaceful adventures and cozy snuggles.01/14/26 10:41What did we do on today’s adventure:Cali was happily excited, yet calm and polite, when she saw her buddy’s car and hopped right into the SUV, ready for whatever the morning had in store. When they arrived at their destination, she eagerly—but thoughtfully—investigated all the new smells, soaking it all in one sniff at a time. What really got Cali excited, though, wasa big pile of leaves—she absolutely loved trotting through them and rolling around without a care in the world. Cali was unfazed by cyclists, walkers, and even other pups during her adventure. She remained calm and very polite when being passed or passing others on the trail and in the park. When she spotted other dogs, she admired them from afar and showed no reactivity at all. Cali even saw geese, ducks, and squirrels, which she observed from adistance as she walked around the lake. She strolled at a leisurely pace, never pulling, and stayed right by her buddy’s side the entire time. Her favorite part of the morning was snoozing in the grass under the warm sun, enjoying hot dogs andstring cheese, and—of course—rolling through the leaves. What potential adopters should know:Cali is a very sweet girl who would thrive in a calm, relaxed home where she can snooze in a warm, comfy bed or soak up some sunshine. She is a self-professed foodie and happily enjoys all kinds of tasty treats, especially Nudges, hot dogs, string cheese, and—her absolute favorite—pup cups. Cali sits nicely and takes treats very gently, showing excellent manners when being rewarded with something yummy. She does enjoy affection, particularly gentle pets and body rubs, with special appreciation for her back and booty scratches. Her ears and head can be a little sensitive due to past or ongoing ear infections, so she prefers those areas to be handled carefully. Even so, Cali is an affectionate, loving, and sweet pup who enjoys quality time and loving touch once she feels comfortable.Three words to describe me:Mellow, Sweet and Polite12/11/25 13:43 Cali is a 3 year old FS pit bull. She has been at the shelter since 9/10. Cali is great for nonmedical handling but when any restraint is presented, she is very resistant, body thrashing, throwing her weight around. This has required sedation for a mild ear infection and also a dog fight wound. Both times Cali is difficult for sedation, with or without restraint she becomes hypersensitive. Medical cannot continue sedated medical exams and there is concern for escalating reactivity. Needs urgent rescue.
