Male Dog, Pit Bull Terrier
Pit Bull Terrier (Medium Coat)
Description:
Notes from Foster: Arnold lived with us briefly but impacted our hearts forever. He is a true Pit bull. Whichever room we went into, he would immediately make sure we were safe and then relax in his bed. Unless it was the bathroom. Then he would patiently wait & keep us company, you know, in case we needed protection! Hahaha Arnold loves to show & receive affection He'd alternate between every family member, making sure we each got equal love from him. If he were a human he would definitely be a hugger. He's such a kind and sweet boy that wants what we all want in life, to find our safe place in this world.Living in a shelter, you are surrounded by noise that can be overstimulating so we wanted to make sure he understood he's safe. That meant training him to walk calmly and not worry about other dogs. We made lots of great progress with his muzzle, which helped calm him while adjusting to the neighborhood dogs on our walks. Since he didn't know the dogs he was hesitant to approach and would sometimes bark. That behavior could be redirected with his favorite freeze-dried liver treats. He understands simple commands like sit, stay, down & outside and loves being rewarded for all of his efforts so naturally he earned lots of treats and cuddles.Arnold is so curious about life. If something made a sound that he didn't immediately recognize, he'd tilt his head to try and process what he was hearing. He wasn't bothered by any loud noises, should a motorcycle roar by, or if children were playing out in the playground. He is a sponge, eagerly absorbing and learning his surroundings. Arnold is a bright and brilliant boy. Living in a shelter could discourage some dogs from new environments or people, but not Arnold. Anytime a new family member would visit, he would welcome them and show them lots of love and cuddles. Arnold is such a great dog. But more importantly, he is the true definition of man's best friend. Loving and loyal and eager to explore the world around him. Devastatingly, due to my own health issues, I was unable to keep him. But I know that his forever family will gain a true Pit Bull; a loving, gentle-giant, silly-goose, with the purest heart of gold who just wants to explore the world around him with his best friends.8/11/25Arnold immediately jumped into the car to head out. Heâs very eagerand excited, but cracking the car window to let him sniff issomething he clearly loves. He seems to love feeling the wind in hisface. He pulled hard for the first 10 minutes or so, but then weslowed to a comfortable pace and overall, he is a wonderful walker(9/10). He didnât react to anybody or anything with the exception ofa few squirrels. He may like to dig as he tried to dig on somesquirrel holes, but he was very easy to re-direct. Heâs not as treatmotivated, but he will come to you just for some good head scratchesand continue to lean in for affection. He is a sweet and loving pup,who would do great in just about any family â he really enjoys thecompany heâs with.Three words to describe me: Happy, Friendly, Loyal06/15/25 07:47Today I:Went for a hike with a new friend. I was so excited as soon as I met her, I licked her all over while she put on my harness and collar. I jumped into the car right away and loved putting my head out the window to feel the breeze blowing. Even though I just met my new friend, I loved getting pets from her, and snuggled my nose up right under her arm in the car. I was patient in the car, but so excited to get out and explore. I was a little excited at first, but then settled down when I realized she was taking me out on a nice, long hike. I saw so many people, dogs and animals. I loved it! Three Words to Describe Me are: Affectionate, happy, trail-buddyNotes from My Walker:It always amazes me how trusting and friendly these dogs are. This is my first time walking Arnold, but you would think he knew me for a long time. He was very friendly right away and let me harness him up no problem (although he was a little squirmy because he was so excited). He was very affectionate in the car, and snuggled his nose right up in the crook of my arm almost immediately and just wanted love. Very, very big sweetheart. Arnold walked well on the leash. He pulled a little in the beginning, but that was just the initial excitement of being out somewhere new. Within 5 minutes, we had a good little pace going and he was very well behaved. On water breaks, he was a total leaner and came into me for lots of love. He is a very affectionate dog who craves human contact and attention. We went for about a 4 mile hike in Quicksilver. Arnold was going strong the whole way and was really enjoying himself. We passed many people and other dogs and he showed a little interest, but no aggression. Arnold will make a great companion to someone who wants to give him some exercise, love and affection. He will lean into that and love you right back. Big, big sweetheart.06/11/25 13:15What did we do on todayâs adventure: Today I went on my first âTrails &Tailsâ adventure. At first I wasnât really sure what was going on but once I got outside, I was excited to get sniffing! I love car rides, especially sticking my headout the window and feeling the wind in my ears. Once we got to the park, I got to sniff so many great new smells, we also passed other dogs, people, and bikes but I wasnât really interested in those. The geese though â I would like to check those guys out more. I love attention and made sure to get lots of pets during breaks, I also like to check in often during walks to make sure my walker is still there! I showed off my sit for some yummy treats and even got a pup cup at the end of our walk â delish! What should potential adopters know about me: Arnold is such a sweet and loving boy. He loves pets, attention, and snuggling. He had never met me before, but it did not take him long to warm up and be comfortable with me. He is a big fan of car rides and hopped right in when I opened the door, he also really likes sticking his head out the window. Once we got to the park he wasexcited to get walking, he did pull a bit at the start of the walk but once he got his initial excitement out, he settled into a nice walking pace and was good about not pulling. He checks in very frequently with his walker and sometimes will just want to stop and want some pets before continuing. He was unreactive to other dogs, people, bikes etc. though he was very interested in the geese we saw. He can be a little jumpy/mouthy when he gets really excited but otherwise was awell behaved boy on our walk. Overall, Arnold is an super sweet and lovely boy who will make a wonderful companion.Three words to describe me: Loving, Playful, Good-Natured
