Description:

Foster or forever home wanted, meet Venus. Venus's story is one we hear far too often and it's heartbreaking which is why we needed to help her. Venus entered the Hesperia shelter with a litter of puppies. Trying to care for, protect and nurture a litter of puppies is very stressful on a momma dog, let alone in a crowded, noisy shelter. As usual, all of Venus's puppies were able to find homes when they became available and Venus was left behind. Due to overcrowding, the high influx of dogs entering the shelter and low foot traffic and adoptions, Venus ran out of time. Being a black dog, and not a puppy, Venus was being overlooked. We are very grateful to one of the volunteers that made us aware Venus was in danger. When we called to check on her to get her status, we were advised if she wasn't picked up that day, she'd lose her life. Needless to say, we went into overdrive to make sure she left the shelter to begin her new life and getting the opportunity for that second chance. Since Venus just came to the rescue 12/10, we are still getting to know her. What we've been told by shelter staff is that she is very sweet, was such a good momma to her puppies. She is a little on the shy side but is people and dog friendly. As we learn more about her, we'll updated her information. If you are interested in meeting Venus, please head over to labradorsandfriends.org to fill out an application. Venus is located in Southern California.
