Male Dog, Collie

Collie / Mixed (Long Coat)

Description:

Forever Home Wanted: Meet Max! Max’s journey began with a kind stranger who saw a puppy in need and said, “Not on my watch.” A Good Samaritan found him, kept him safe, and cared for him while waiting for an owner to come forward. When no one ever did, we stepped in to help rewrite his ending. This Collie mix is the definition of a young, intelligent dog—bright, busy, and full of life. He sports a mostly black coat with a crisp splash of white on his chest and chin, like a perfectly placed design detail that says, yes, I really was born this handsome. Max is playful, social, and charming in that goofy puppy way that makes you laugh even when he’s launching himself into the air out of pure excitement. He loves people and wants to be part of everything you do. Because he’s still very much a puppy, continued training will be essential to help him grow into the thoughtful, well-mannered dog he’s already learning to become. His forever family should be committed to keeping that learning going. We can’t say for certain how Max feels about cats just yet, but we can confidently say chickens are not part of his social circle. And due to a lack of proper play etiquette with other dogs at this time, Max will do best as the only pet in the home. However, an experienced adopter who understands dog integration and resource-guarding behaviors may be considered. Max is the kind of dog who gets better every single day. With his intelligence, eagerness to please, and natural Collie instincts, he’s primed to be an incredible companion for the right person or family—one who enjoys play, structure, and a dog who will absolutely keep life interesting. If you’re interested in fostering or adopting Max, please visit www.LabradorsandFriends.org and submit an application. Let’s get this clever pup into the home he deserves, where the words “Good boy, Max” will be said often—and genuinely meant. Max is located in Southern California.
