Meet Citizen! DOB: August 2021Weight: 22lbsDisposition: Dignified, Thoughtful, Decerning- This handsome Schnauzer boy looks like he was born with an old soul. There is something about his expression that makes you feel like he has a lifetime of wisdom behind those eyes. He is a little nervous at first, but he is gentle and allows himself to be handled and petted. He has a calm, distinguished presence and a sweetness that shines through once he feels safe.History: This sweet boy came to us from a kill shelter in Downey and was at risk of euthanasia after arriving with injuries that made us wonder if he may have been attacked by another dog. He had facial wounds, bruising, abrasions, and initially came in limping on his front leg. He was evaluated by an offsite veterinarian, where he was found to be weight-bearing on all four legs and his normal gait returned. His facial wounds have continued to heal, and he has received care while in the shelter. He deserves the chance to continue healing in a safe, loving home where he can finally relax and feel secure. ❤️Best Home:He would do best with a patient, understanding family who will give him time to decompress and become comfortable at his own pace. A calm home where he can enjoy a peaceful routine and receive plenty of gentle affection would be ideal. He would benefit from someone who understands that nervous dogs don't always show their true personalities right away and is willing to let trust develop naturally. He would do great in a home with another quiet and calm dog.
