German Shepherd Dog (Short Coat)
Description:
Bailey is a 6-month-old bi-color German Shepherd with the sweetest soul and a gentle, eager-to-please nature. Found timid and unsure, Bailey initially sought comfort tucked behind tools in a garage of his Foster Family's home, unsure of the world around him. But with a little patience, a cozy bed, and some tasty treats, this shy boy began to bloom. In just a few short days, Bailey warmed up to his foster family, revealing his playful and affectionate personality. He’s incredibly trainable, food-motivated, and quickly learned to trust the people who care for him. Once he feels safe, Bailey becomes a loyal shadow, always eager for affection, tail wags, and plenty of licks. Bailey has been a perfect gentleman with the resident adult German Shepherd who has served as a mentor to him. The two play beautifully together chasing, wrestling, tug-of-warring, and patrolling the yard like a true dynamic duo. He’s wonderfully submissive, respectful, and has shown zero signs of aggression. Bailey is already mastering his puppy basics: ✅ Crate trained and sleeps through the night (10 PM–7 AM) ✅ Walks great on a leash ✅ House trained — no accidents or marking ✅ Knows “sit” (waits before meals or going out doors) ✅ Understands “no” and “uh uh” for redirection ✅ Learning “down” and respectful of boundaries (with gentle reminders) He has a typical puppy schedule: play hard, nap hard, repeat! While he occasionally tests limits like hopping on furniture or reaching a counter but he’s easily corrected and eager to learn. Bailey is ready to leave his shy beginnings behind and start his next chapter with a forever family. Could that be you? Puppies are a life-long commitment. They need time, training, vet care and healthy feeding to become good canine citizens. Don't even think of adopting a puppy unless you intend to invest the time and money and commitment required, and you can expect to lose a few good shoes along the way! This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is 100% tax deductible. Prior to placement, all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are usually microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis. Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems. Our adoption process begins with completing an application on-line. A phone screening will soon follow, and lastly a home visit will be conducted by our volunteers.
