Female Dog, Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie

Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie / Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie / Mixed (Long Coat)

Description:

Meet Maya Blue! This 5 lb, 8-year-old Yorkie mix is a sassy little soul who came to us from Contra Costa Animal Services. We can’t wait to share her journey with you! ✨ It’s Maya’s world and we live in it Maya loves to explore (sometimes in circles), nap, and enjoy her meals. When she does allow you in, she’ll give you those sweet, brief kisses and the occasional ear rub. She’s not a fan of crates and prefers her own cozy enclosed space at night. While she uses potty pads when needed, she’s still learning her potty training, especially outside her comfort zone. She has figured out that being held, pet and cuddled aren't bad. They actually feel pretty good! She will nap curled up on, or next to us, for hours every day. She knows that pets don't hurt, and she really enjoys them, sometimes. She still likes to take things at her pace, and she lets you know when she doesn't want your touch. She makes her dislike known with by rolling, thrashing around, and trying to bite (don't worry, she has no teeth). What she dislikes the most is having her eyes touched, and sometimes just her face in general. Maya is a slow eater with her kibble, and a bit messy. We've tried wet food, and it's too much for her to master. She sleeps well in her enclosed area at night. She might wake in the night, but will settle herself down after a few minutes. She does not like being crated. Maya is not potty trained, but has a fairly reliable schedule, and will potty outside if you put her out. When we hold her, she will nuzzle up against you and lay her head on your chest. This is what makes fostering so rewarding! Taking a dog with no trust and them learning to cuddle with you. She would not be a good fit for someone with small children. Stay tuned for updates as Maya Blue gets closer to finding her forever home. She may be a little spicy, but she’s got a heart of gold just waiting to shine! #AdoptMayaBlue#YorkieMix#RescueDog#ComingSoon#SpicyButSweetWe are on all social media at @umbrellaofhope and we invite you to follow us and share which helps more people see and adopt our pets.
