I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Dog Adoption:17Meet Stephan, a 1-year-old, 55-pound survivor with a tender heart and a bright future. After sustaining a recent gunshot injury, Stephan is healing beautifully. The swelling has gone down, he’s putting more weight on his leg each day, and he’s expected to continue improving as he recovers. Stephan can be a little shy at first, so slow movements and tasty treats are the way to his heart. Once he warms up, he’s wiggly, sweet, and happy to climb into your lap for affection. He loves peaceful “sniffaris” and bird watching. He’s still learning his manners (sit is a work in progress) but he’s eager and food-motivated. Around other dogs, he stays calm and mostly keeps to himself. He could live with a well-matched dog buddy or thrive as a solo pup with dog friends.
