I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Dog H:2Meet Oliver, a fun-loving 1-year-old, 63-pound lab and shepherd mix with a heart full of enthusiasm and a body built for play! This cheerful pup is a great mix of independent and affectionate. He loves fetch, but is just as content to wander off on his own. While he’s still working on polite greetings (he’s a bit jumpy when excited), Oliver is eager to please and already knows "sit". He’s got a sweet, playful spirit and would do best in a home where he can get plenty of exercise, structure, and love. On a recent field trip, Oliver showed off his curious, adventurous side. While he was nervous about jumping into the car, he settled and rode calmly. A nice walking companion, Oliver kept a steady pace, didn’t get easily distracted, and seemed to really enjoy being out in nature. He wasn’t especially focused on other people or animals during the walk. Oliver is social with other dogs and enjoys a lot of chase-style fun. He’d thrive in a home with a well-matched dog, or he’d be just as happy as your solo companion. If you’re looking for a fun and active companion, Oliver might be your match!
