I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Dog Adoption:14Meet Heathbar, a 7-year-old, 75-pound lovebug and the velcro dog of your dreams. Loyal, eager, and affectionate, Heathbar is looking for a person to share his big heart with. We learned so much about him from his foster home! Heathbar is food-motivated, crate-trained, and fully house-trained (he’ll even let you know when he needs to go out). He enjoys long walks, hikes, or runs—followed by some serious snuggling on the couch. He thrives with structure and does best with a consistent schedule. While he may cry a bit when left alone unexpectedly, he settles down without being destructive. Heathbar knows some basic commands and responds with enthusiasm to “Cheese!” He’s made great progress on leash and is gaining confidence every day. Though he can have big feelings when passing other dogs, he’s working hard and is looking for a committed human to help him keep improving. He may be able to live with a calm dog after slow introductions, or would be perfectly happy as your one-and-only.
