I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Dog I:6This 2-year-old, 46-pound pittie mix is remarkably full of sunshine and smiles. Davey was found tied under a freeway with a muzzle that had been left on too long. Despite his obvious scars, he’s remained cheerful and soaks up affection from anyone willing to give it. On a recent field trip, Davey had a nice relaxing walk along the shoreline. He needed help getting into the car but settled quickly. He showed interest in people and other dogs but remained manageable on leash and responsive to his handler. He also noticed small animals but simply watched them. Davey is treat-motivated, already knows sit and is ready to learn more. He may get a little excited and mouthy, but can be redirected easily with a stick or toy. He would do best with adopters who will continue his training and help him channel his enthusiasm in positive ways. In shelter playgroups, he enjoys chase games with other dogs. He could do well with an appropriately matched dog in the home, or solo with regular social time.
