I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Dog Adoption:17Courage – Sweet, Curious, and Quickly Learning to Trust Courage is a 2.5-year-old mystery-mix weighing 47 pounds, with adorable button ears and a gentle, playful personality. Growing in confidence: Courage may be environmentally sensitive at first, but warms up quickly with patience. Once comfortable, he shows fairly good recall and enjoys engaging with his person. Smart and treat motivated: He knows “sit” and “down,” takes treats gently, and responds well to positive reinforcement. Playful and curious: Given space and time, Courage initiates playful interaction, offering play bows and engaging in some juvenile mouthing. He’s still learning that hands are for affection rather than play. Quiet and non-reactive: He shows curiosity about people without barking nor displaying reactivity and remains unfazed by barking dogs nearby. Courage would thrive with patient adopters who allow him to build trust at his own pace. He would do best with appropriately matched dogs or as a solo dog with appropriate dog friends.
