Description:

About Me Age: 3 years....Meet sweet Brut who’s heart overflows with love and constant tail wags. Brut spent the majority of his life as part of a bonded pair but was separated when his owners had to make the heartbreaking decision to separate the two due to a move overseas. Brut now finds himself for the first time navigating this big world solo without his constant companion and is looking for a family (and canine playmate) to help fill that void. Brut has shown to be a good companion with adults, teens, and other dogs. He wants to ensure his people don’t go too far and will follow you everywhere and help with chores (wishful thinking). He’s a gentle fella when taking treats, loves to please his humans and is very intelligent. He will stand at the door should he need to go out and maybe give you a little yelp to let you know he’s ready. Brut knows basic commands like sit, stay, come, no, focus and is quite the athlete retrieving tennis balls or juggling a soccer ball. While indoors, Brut is a mellow guy and is content to snuggle up next to you on a couch, or lounge while you work. He enjoys walks and is receiving positive reinforcement to help him manage his pulling, especially in the evenings when he’s more energetic. He’s making good strides in this area. Driven by a powerful instinct to chase, Brut wouldn’t fare well in a home with small furry friends (IE: no cats). Rabbits and squirrels are his nemesis so he will pull when they cross paths but while at home, his backyard becomes a rodent-free zone. Brut’s leash skills are a work in progress, and while he might still bark and pull a little at dog encounters, it’s all part of his growing confidence. The right family, with a bit of patience and continued training, will witness Brut transform into a leash-loving, cuddly companion. Brut isn’t a fan of solo home time. Being left alone can make him express his frustration with a few barks. His foster family has been patiently teaching him coping mechanisms, and he’s making great progress in this area. Brut would love another canine companion!…but, if that’s not in his future, his forever home will need to continue with this positive reinforcement training to help him become more comfortable with being on his own as well as letting him experience new adventures. While in foster care, SCGRR has sent Brut to doggie day care where he does really well with canine friends and comes home one tired pup! This smart boy isn’t just quick to learn, he’s got the energy to match. Brut quickly picks up your cues, making training a breeze. Although Brut is low energy most of the day, he is a very athletic dog. Daily runs, hikes, and adventures are his jam, not only keeping his body fit but also easing his anxiety. So, if you crave a running or hiking buddy, Brut’s your pup. My Ideal Home Brut would excel in a home with patient humans who will invest in his training. An owner who works from home provides ideal companionship, offering regular breaks for cuddles and walks. While Brut adores children, older youngsters (10+) who respect his space are best for him. While Brut needs to learn to navigate the world on his own, a canine playmate, similar to his foster brothers (he did live with a female Golden in his prior home), would be a dream come true for Brut, offering him both confidence-building and playful adventures with a new buddy.
